Dude tows car with a bike

Allright, I'm transplanting this one from another forum. These are not all my words.

Guy owns an older BMW M3. Nice enough car, I suppose. Has the usual older-BMW-syndrome (read: crap wrong with it and parts made of, as motoproponent would say, billet unobtanium).

 

So apparently his transmission output seal starts leaking. Rather than doing the expensive thing, he wheels it into his plywood shed in the back yard and decides to try to replace the seal himself. Everything goes wrong. Rather than dropping the tranny he pulls the driveshaft and exhaust, but can't get the seal out without potentially scoring the machined seal seat. As such, he decides to do the smart thing: take it to the shop (only 200 yards away, apparently)!

 

Only thing is, to get his car out to the street he needs to push it up a hill in the back yard, its late evening, and its damp out.

 

So, he goes back into stupid mode.

 

Enter one oil-cooled Suzuki, a sheet of plywood, and a sketchy piece of yellow nylon rope.

Now I'll be the first to admit I've done some shady wrenching in my life, but this is a bit beyond the normal 'git-r-done' style of mechanics. Note also tha the rear wheels are on backwards and secured by only two lugs. He took them off to clean them while the car was on stands, but figured that two lugs and wheels on backwards was fine for pushing it to the shop (nevermind that the shop might want to test drive it after its repaired).

I just want to clarify a few things...I actually posted a pic of my tranny and some had noted that it's probably the selector rod seal that's leaking, which made sense. That same night i went to BMW and bought it $22 for a little seal. I decided since i had bought the output shaft seal and the selector rod seal I might as well replace both.

 

Having read a few threads on here I found out that some people damaged their trannies by prying out the seals and having leaks again because they scored the outer surfaces. I don't want to take that chance and having looked at the bentley manual you need a "special" bmw tool for the outer seal. Now luckily i live just a block away from a bmw shop that services mostly M cars and I've decided that I don't want to take the risk of ****ing up my car over this and I will just take it to them.

 

I put the wheels on temporarily, hence why only two lugs and the tires aren't even facing the right way and I towed it out. Unfortunately it's just me and my gf at the house and she can't help me push it out so i just decided to improvise and use my bike. Guess what, it worked without a problem and i pushed the car down the street to the shop where it's peacefully sitting waiting to be worked on. It's a pretty simple concept, I don't have the luxuries of having a perfect garage with every specialized bmw tool, nor do I have the ability to push a car out on my own (hence the use of a bike). I also didn't want to have multiple people push the car because I am afraid they might bend/scratch a panel. (I would've used my other car to tow it out, but as you can see there wasn't much space as the fence was pretty close, so I did what worked)

 

The blemish on the trunk is after I had removed the spoiler as many of you know these spoilers are held on by very strong double sided tape. Unfortunately even with a heat gun when pulling the spoiler some paint chipped off and I basically did some prepping before I take it in to have it painted. That's all there is to it.

The London police use Honda Goldwings as retrieval vehicles in London. There's a company that equips them with a hydraulic lift and deployable out-rigger wheels. They only use them in the downtown area, and only on those little tiny European cars.
