Linn1647545492
oh oh... I can, pick me! Good numbers man. Hopefully my ski will hit the water again this year with some similiar speeds, but with the new addition to my household I dont know if that will happen or not. Make sure you let me know the next time you head out. I have a few things I want try with the ski and with the cooler weather coming I feel there is atleast 1 full MPH left if not 2. Trouble Maker
So close to 80mph!! What do you think it will take to get there, just a calm day? What's were/are your goals for this ski?

Linn1647545492
So close to 80mph!! What do you think it will take to get there, just a calm day? What's were/are your goals for this ski? My goal with the ski has always been to break 80.0 MPH this season and I would like to break 85 MPH next year. Once the water and air temp cool it should pick up some speed. I am going to cut the bottom of the J-Pipe off where it goes into the water box and fill in the big gap on the side of the ride plate where it meets the hull. I've been told I should gain 40 RPM with the J-pipe mod and .7 MPH with filling in the gap on the side of the ride plate. With the air/water getting cooler my RPMs are only going to keep going up and the soft limiter of the ski is at 8250. Right now I'm turning a 21.5 pitch prop at 8160-8180 which is right where it needs to be. So to pull the RPMs down I'm going to try a 81mm nozzle compaired to the stock nozzle that is 83mm. I should see one or two MPH just by changing the nozzles. I'm going to Lake Cumberland in Sept and I'm hoping to not only break 80 MPH but to hit 81+. Smooth water is a must even with small chop/wind my ski just jumps out off the water and has trouble getting over 73MPH.
Trouble Maker
Does lake Cumberland typically have smoother water than alum or anywhere around here? I can't imagine doing 80mph on the water, that's just bananas!

Nitrousbird
Glass is rough compared to the side channels of Cumberland - that place is butter!
wnaplay1647545503
I tried to get sam and you guys to come hang out for free at Dale hollow for a few days. That water is typically smoother than cumberland, especially throughout the week.

Linn1647545492
Last month I broke the front of the pump shoe off and here is what the fix looks like as of last week. You can't really tell from the picture but on the leading edge of the water weld there is a rolled metal pump shoe insert that I posted a few pages back. The water weld filled the hole that was an inch deep infront of the plastic shoe. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/338341994_photobucket_7615_.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/338341994_photobucket_7614_.jpg I posted two weeks ago about how I sucked up a huge rock on the Licking River. When I pulled the prop out of the pump, I was missing chunks of metal from the vains and one was bent. I had IPS fix the pump for me and knife edge the leading edge of the vains. Here is what is the vains look like on the pump after they were fixed and knife edged. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/338341994_photobucket_7617_.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/338341994_photobucket_7618_.jpg The wear ring after the rocked passed through it. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/338341994_photobucket_7616_.jpg Here is a picture of the back of the pump shoe with the pump, impeller, wedge, nozzle and bucket removed. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/338341994_photobucket_7619_.jpg
Linn1647545492
I ordered a new nozzle this week with 82, 83 and 84mm rings. I will still need to pick up and 81 but it's a good start.

Linn1647545492
Looks good. Sucks we can't get another run in before the season ended... Or can we... Tuesday afternoon/evening...? Haha????? Do a few top end pulls with bno one on the lake?? There a few more things I need to do to the ski before winter. When I was in Cumberland I had a bad porpoising issue above 77MPH. So I need to get that sorted out and I need to add at least another degree to the prop as the ski is now turning 8280rpm with a 82MM ring and should be at 8160-8180. I'm well into the soft limiter now and the ECU is pulling timming. Edited October 3, 2011 by Linn
