GSXRAntwon
So I bought my truck in Texas last September, and today I get a letter in the mail. It says they are doing a special audit of all casual (non-dealer) motor vehicle transfers and that I have to complete this questionnaire. Anyone ever got one of these audits? frenchy chan
what are the questions?
nurkvinny
Yes, more times than I can remember.
GSXRAntwon
They wanna know how much I paid for the truck, mileage, my phone #, basically to see if I falsified the purchase price of the truck probably?
GSXRAntwon
So if I bought this truck from Texas, does that mean they sent this letter to the seller too?
Patterson
Easy stuff. I had to o one last year when I sold the Durango.
Bam
So if I bought this truck from Texas, does that mean they sent this letter to the seller too? Even if you bought it from your next door neighbor, yes they always mail the letter to the seller as well to verify what you write matches the sellers info. That's how they conclude whether you did something wrong.
GSXRAntwon
Gotcha, well I just thought this was odd or I did something wrong so I'll just fill it out n mail it back I guess!
nurkvinny
BTW, the last one I remember was when I sold a truck to a guy from Indiana. But, I've gotten plenty from Ohio-Ohio sales too.
AngryBMW
I received one for the purchase of a bike...that I made 3 years ago. I received the letter last month. I called the number, explained that I don't remember as it was so long ago and they deleted the notice. I thought it was strange too. -Marc
Ziggy1647545504
I've gotten two of these. They tend to go along with a listed purchase price that is significantly lower than the "book" value. I've filled them both out, but I don't think I ended up mailing either one... No stamps. Never saw any repurcussion.
smokin5s
I got one too... I called and asked the lady, she said they send it out to every person who buys non-dealer... I just filled it out and mailed it in, no biggie.
