Rocky31186
I went out tonight and snapped a few pictures.. My trial period is up on my editing software.. So I need to find something else. I was really getting used to the sagelight editor.. So this is just a unedited picture I took tonight... Nothing special, just playing around with the settings.. Obviously come spring / summer they will have all the lights on and it will look a lot cooler.. Figured I would keep the Dark Room moving.. :fuckyeah: http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/creekside.jpg And just a random one from the parking garage.. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/creekside1.jpg

Rocky31186
Thanks. They are nothing to write home about. I like taking night shots though. If only I can get good at them. I have about 50 other shots. Just loaded a couple.

Berto
As far as editing.. Lightroom 4 is available now and is 150, which is a pretty grew price. Ill comment tomorrow on pics, my iPhone does no justice. I have ppl always asking me about free photo editing software. I agree with the photoshop software, its just worth it. However, I am not sold on lightroom. If you are going to buy software make sure you do your research. I almost got lightroom because my dad had it and it was more expensive than elements so I assumed it must be better. However lightroom is more geared towards a different kind of user than elements. Even so, elements has some things lightroom does not. Don't waste your time with free photo software. Even if the software is 'just as good' just from a support standpoint, these programs have magazines, youtube videos, webiste, etc on how to do things. on the truck photo, I might try it at F18 that will give the lights a nice starburst effect. Pretty harsh statement... anything I've ever wanted to do, I've been able to accomplish with the GIMP. I'm sure there's got to be stuff that it's missing compared to PS/LR, but when it comes to basic color level adjustment, layers, and even film negative scanning, it's always had what I needed. Benner
From the Zoo yesterday. Weather was perfect and didn't have to wait for anything. Saw everything in less than 3 hours http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj32/Formula98/BaldEagle.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj32/Formula98/Bobcatfront.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj32/Formula98/BobcatStare.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj32/Formula98/Bobcatside.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj32/Formula98/Flamingo.jpg
gbracing81
I have always been into taking pictures. I don't really have a good camera like what I'm sure you guys have. Do you have any recommendations on a good entry level digital 35mm camera? Nothing overly extravagant, I have about $600 to spend on one. MrMeanGreen
Save that SRT8 pic for next year's calendar submission.
mrs.cos
Nikon D5100 or Canon T3i (or whatever is comparable entry level DSLR fo Canon right now) Just remmeber that its not the camera that makes the picture.. its the person.. learning how to compose a shot, how to use apeture, metering and ISO properly will greatly improve what ever you have now. Rocky31186
Don't waste your time with free photo software. I used sagelight editor, the free 30 day trial.. And it worked good for me.. but the trial is up. haha. Its only 40$ to buy..

I didn't mean to pee in your Cherios, but its my opinion. I can also adjust picture brightness for free by changing settings on my monitor, lol. When it comes down to it, i guess its the level of your software expectations and how far you want to go. I know I personally hate learning new software of any kind and the ease of how-to's for photoshop is amazing. Heck you can even buy 'actions' for different effects if you want. You aren't going to change my mind and I'm not going to change yours. I used sagelight editor, the free 30 day trial.. And it worked good for me.. but the trial is up. haha. Its only 40$ to buy.. Lets compare apples to apples, photoshop has a free 30 day trial too. If you are going to spend the money do your research. $80 just doesn't seem like a big deal for me on software I use just about every day. Maybe I'm just not in touch with my old college student self.

And you can obviously tell you take photography a lot more serious than I do.. as mine is just a learning hobby still..
mrs.cos
Then stick with Gimp or Paint, IMHO. Its free and they are mainstream enough to find MANY tutorials on the net for doing different things.
Tractor
Yeah GIMP is very powerful for free. Actually more so than PS Elements. Now PS CS4 and CS5 are in the league of their own compared to Elements. I use CS5 and Lightroom 3.4 at the moment though really I only use photoshop for astrophotography and extreme editing since Lightroom does 99% of the editing I need. Lightroom is excellent for cataloging and managing huge numbers of photos such as what I get from weddings. Its also very useful if your very into photography and want to catalog your work for easy access, adjustments, and viewing. Another nice feature is that you can upload from lightroom to many of the social media sites with plugins.
