AudiOn19s Posted May 11, 2012 Report Share Posted May 11, 2012 In a performance setting tires at full tread depth have several issues including tread squirm and they easily overheat and start chunking at full tread depth. While shaving can be done for performance or to match a new tire to a set of used ones, in this case I just need the outside shoulders shaved a bit for fitment purposes. Posted May 11, 2012 Report Share Posted May 11, 2012 My friend who works at Kelly BMW mentioned once that if they have a cupped tire on a car; depending on tread that they sometimes do that because of the expense of a new tire.
