The sick part about it is, I actually enjoyed "combating" the insurance company. Its sad that I do their job better than they do. I have actually considered/am considering doing this for others as another source of income or even as a sole source of income.

Finally got my TX title in the mail yesterday. I went to the local ins office today and gave them a copy of the title, they gave me my check, case closed.

Now on to the long task of stripping this thing to the bones before I come up to OH to get her replacement.

Nice work. My job is to pay as little as possible on insurance claims. I get people bitchin all the time :)

Yeah, I kind of had that conversation with the adjuster working my case. I told him what was about to ensue was not personal, as I knew he had a job to do, but I also have to look out for my interest. I could tell they weren't really prepared for someone like me though. I never once gave them a dollar figure I needed. I let them come up with the monetary amounts, I simply contested their evaluation of my vehicle condition and called them out for not following their own rules on the comparables they submitted.

Like you said, they are used to hearing bitching, but I am guessing most people can't justify WHY their car's value is higher than what the ins co rates it at. I have a folder full of documentation from this case, and an even thicker one from the last time this happened.

The funny thing about all this was, my adjuster, John, had told me there was nothing more they could do on upping the value of the vehicle based on condition, and that if I bumped it up the ladder, the specialist would just review it and say they did there jobs correctly the first time. That was when the offer was like $4k. So when I ended up getting it up to $7800 with the specialist and her supervisor, and everything was agreed upon, I was given back to John to finalize the details such as bringing them a copy of the title, and when/where to pick up my check, and he congratulated me on getting the value increased but he had kind of a sheepish chuckle like he was a little bit embarrassed that I got it up to $7800 after he told me there was no way it was going to be rated higher than $4k.

It was a fun experience negotiating.

Compressor and air tools have been getting a workout. However since she is across the street and my garage door is hardly ever open (with the exception of when I took these pics) I doubt she even knows. I know she doesn't know it was wrecked, and she hasn't said anything about hearing my compressor so I am assuming she has no idea. Where it will get fun is when I bring the new DSM back, ha ha.

Very nice work. I would have just passed you on to a supervisor if you were trying to get above where I'm willing to pay out. haha

(Old lady peeking through the blinds)

"George, it's back again, and it's louder than ever! I'm going over there!"

(Old man in his recliner reading the paper)

"Why don't you mind your own God damn business for once?"

I wish. His wife is making them look like idiots. Randy's wife beside us, (her name escapes me), informed me last evening that the old lady called the cops on some kids the other night for riding little 4 wheelers in the big grassy area behind the houses on that side of the street. 1st, it's not her property, secondly, they were even riding them in the property that was behind her house, they all stayed in the section north of her house. SO I guess the cop showed up and just asked them to put the 4 wheelers away, then my neighbor's wife told the cop what she has been like with me over the past year and the cop said, "yeah...I can see that."

She is just a miserable old hag that's all up in everyone's business.
