Seriously impressive plans, mang. I dig.

Can you share your "deals" on the wheels and coilovers? I'm always curious...

Thousands, not hundreds, clay.

Exactly. I won't state exact figures, but the GTI now has to be parted/sold to pay for the coils and wheels, to give you an idea, Clay. Pretty bummed about it, but I'll at least give myself until the end of the year to enjoy it. Hoping to get as many photos and etc. as I can while It's all one piece... Oh well :(

I am probably in the minority but I think that rotiform brian's car looked better in black. What mirrors are on that white one next to the green one?

I agree with you completely.. much too minty for my taste. 964s came with two different mirrors in the period they were offered. The early ones had "flag" mirrors like mine, and I believe the split at '92 they came with the "tear drop" mirrors you're asking about. I much prefer the late style mirrors over the flag. It's one change I'm dead set on doing once I get around to it.

Yep, much better.

Yup, that's the upgrade I plan on making after I work on some necessary preventative maintenance that I feel needs done for my piece of mind, first. But I much prefer the late style teardrops than the flag mirrors. They just flow with the curves of the body much better.

a sound decision indeed....

The 3.6L was pretty durable, no? I know some older iterations (3.0L) had head stud problems but aside from common oil leaks (valve cover gaskets every 30k miles?) what does it really?

I have a pretty big update but I'm waiting on one more thing before I start posting up about everything. Past few weeks prepping for H2O, working O/T and making the trip out have kept me pretty busy.

BTW, that was definitely me off Broad and Waggoner if that's where you saw the car. I travel that area quite a bit since I bought a house just off Haven's Corner in July.

update!!

Alright, sorry for lack of updates. I've been working a lot of overtime hours at work on my night shifts, which has ultimately kept my progress to a minimum. Not to mention, the winter months more or less keep the car stored away in the garage where I can't even think about touching it.

Despite the cold, I did manage to get my H&R coilovers installed and got to enjoy the car for a few weeks before the first snowfall. The car runs great and I did find a couple things I needed to address, such as the passenger window switch, the rear spoiler grille and a sensor and resistor in the hot air duct in the engine bay that had my cabin blower motors on the fritz. All costs of repair were pretty cheap and extremely straight forward. Still with minimal oil leakage coming from the underside of the car, which I am extremely pleased with. I deemed that I felt the car was trust worthy enough not to worry about much else and decided I would get a primary muffler delete installed as well.

As she sat.

I mentioned before I was pretty keen on getting myself a set of BBS E26s and it wasn't long before I got in touch with Brian once again about sourcing a set. He was able to get me a set faster than I anticipated and I made the plunge on the only set of wheels I really ever imagined owning for this car. Pretty pricey, but completely worth it.

Few pictures JUST before first snowfall.

Initially I wasn't too happy with the way the fronts of my E26s sat as they were only 8" wide when I was expecting 9" with a much lower ET. Thankfully, I spoke to Brian and he was generous enough to ship the wheels back on his dime and re-lip and rebarrel them exactly how I was expecting... extremely happy with the accommodation and not a bad thing I can say about the guys at Rotiform.

Much happier with the way they fit now.

With all that extra OT I've been collecting parts, soon to be installed.

Hoping to get the car entirely ready for Water By the Bridge in Louisville, KY March 22nd. I have all the brackets and sliders, but just need to find the time to get it all sorted out and installed. I know most of the pictures are crappy cell pictures, but I'm hoping I can get some really good pictures of the car at the show when it's closer to the way I envision my 964 being.
