coltboostin
What 5 speeds bolt up to an LS based engine? Are any of the truck 5 bangers worth a crap? Do any of the FB/Camaro 5 speeds bolt up? Just doing a little brainstoming.
Chadz89GTA
Even if they did they wouldn't hold any power. The T-5 shits itself behind mildly built 305's.
JaSSon
I thought the LS1 had a 6 speed behind it.
RyM3rC
I thought the LS1 had a 6 speed behind it. It did, the V6s had a shitty 5-speed as did the older 3rd gen V8s from what I recall
GSXRAntwon
The only cheaper GM trans worth a damn that holds up to some power is the T56, and thats the only way Id go if I were you. Spend the extra coin and do it right.
Not Brian
Found these with a quick google search. http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/ccrp_0810_engine_transmission_swap_gen_3/viewall.html http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/600245-ls1-transmission-choice.html
Cordell
That is not such a simple answer. Pretty much anything will bolt to an LS1 with the right bellhousing and clutch. The direct swap 5 speed would come out of a 5 speed silverado with a V8 built after 1999, good luck finding one, and as other's have said it won't take abuse either. A T56 or aftermarket TKO is common for a reason.
