Ohio rebuilt title vin?

Some states are different on this however. In NY where I am originally from, the State issues a yellow tag vin (basically a sticker covering the old vin). I don't know the ramifications of having an out of state issued vin in ohio.

Retains original VIN. A car's VIN cannot legally be changed. There's VIN markers on nearly every part of a car.

 

Not always, you used to be able to register a production vehicle as self assembled if many of the major components were changed. The OSHP would assign a different vin and affix it to the vehicle. The title would state self assembled and would be updated to the year of the inspection. I do not believe this is allowed anymore for anything but actual self assembled vehicles.
