TTQ B4U
Specifically right off 71, between Morse/Cooke Rd. My grandparents used to live in a neighborhood there (Matthias Dr, off Maize Rd). Bought the house new in 1959. My grandpa passed away in 2007 and my grandma recently moved into assisted living. My dad now owns the house, and I may have the opportunity to rent/buy the house for a good deal if I want it. It's in fantastic shape, nice yard, 2-car garage, decent basement, good neighbors, etc. I've lived in Hilliard most of my life and just not sure if I want to live in that area. If anyone is familiar with this area, what are your opinions? HaHa! I remember when I first moved to Columbus in 1990 that there were some apartments nearby there that I looked at in a rental magazine and thought looked great and for the money were a great deal. Then I visited that area. Even back then it wasn't a great area. Not the shit-hole it is now mind you, but certainly not where I would have lived even back then. Sell that place, get him to sell, it, etc. GTFO of that area for sure.
Putty
Spend a week or so in the house and judge for yourself...speak to neighbors. Before I built where I am, I was set on another location and the neighbors totally talked me out of it.
93 RX-7
Cybe has summed up the area pretty well. I lived at the corner of Maize and Garden for 5 years from 2006-2011. I still own that house, one beside it, and a duplex in the area. It's not a bad area really, but I won't buy any more property there, because taxes are out of control, schools suck, and the police really don't investigate "minor" crimes which leads to lots of minor crimes. Not Brian
No matter how nice the house or the street is, you will have the crap of that area around you. Kroger will suck to be in. Getting gas nearby will piss you off. The people around that area have hard times, your daily risk assesment will have additional layers of frustrations. I love when people pull into the gas station sharing their tribal music through the speakers they stole.
