If you could create any car you wanted...

I've always thought a CTS-V would be amazing with AWD, especially if they managed to produce one that wasn't quite so heavy. I guess I would want a 2nd-gen CTS-V, AWD, 6-speed manual, with some kind of "track pack" option (less weight, more aggressive tune, a couple suspension tweaks). Paint it Nassau Blue (C5 color). It would be a hard choice between the coupe, sedan, and wagon.

In a fantasy "it would never happen" build, I would want a Holden Coupe 60 with an LSX454R (N/A) or some kind of custom LS-based setup (turbocharged). I would also want a late 70's Chevy crew cab 4x4 dually powered by a beefed up Duramax.

First I would COPO one of those 1967 Firebird convertible bodies GM licenses and sells in their Restoration catalog and then outfit it with all the underpinnings and drive-train from a new z/28. Exterior painted mariner turquoise, interior a 1969 camaro delux houndstooth setup in black. completely bone stock looking outside and in, and even keep the crank windows.

Then I would have truly the last New Pontiac in existence and it would be badass, instead of the last pontiac being a weak sauce g6.

Jeep Hurricane Hellcat.

2x Hellcat motors = 1414 HP, AWD, 4-wheel steering, and it's a black hole of fucks given, literally compacting surrounding fucks given into a singularity of ultra dense fucks which shall never be given.

Or, I guess a modern Dodge Tomahawk with the Hellcat motor.

Farva: It doesn't matter cause I'm going to win ten million dollars.

Thorny: What are you going to do with ten million dollars, and you can't say buy the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Farva: I'd buy a ten million dollar car.

Thorny: That's a good investment but I'd still pull you over.

Farva: Bull Shit. You couldn't pull me over, and even if you did I'd activate my car's wings and I'd fly away.

[Farva pulls off ticket from cup and pop spills all over him from the hole behind the ticket]

Farva: Dammit, you burger punk. You son of a bitch!

I've been lusting after something small and light with a motorcycle (based?) engine pretty much ever since I first saw the H1 engine.

Really even the inline 4 with some tweaks, n/a with individual TBs & trumpets would be amazeballs.

Like my own little personal F1 motor. :masturboy:

Win.

I'd also really just love an RS5 or RS6 with a manual gearbox.

I would want a Ford F-150 with a gas turbine engine. Like here; http://www.fastcompany.com/60868/motorhead-messiah

Where is Typical Jalopnik Guy to chime in with "brown Passat wagon TDI 4Motion manual"

I don't like diesels or 4WD or VWs, but I would seriously consider buying something like a Cruze SS Wagon -- 270hp from a turbo 4 driving the front wheels, in LTZ trim with a manual trans and no sunroof. In burgundy, not brown, because I'm classy like that. I already drive a lowered Mazda5 wagon with a manual so I've got some cred, although I haven't bought a new car in a long time so I don't think GM would ever listen to me.

Bonus points if they replace the mac struts with double wishbones. I don't think you can get a family car with double wishbones anymore, though.

I might be interested in a Miata with a V6. That always seemed like a winner to me, but I can see how it's a slippery slope, next thing you know you're competing against $35,000 low volume sports cars and the Miata has always been about being cheap and popular.

We'd never be lucky enough to get it with a V6, and probably not even lucky enough to get it, but I just want Alfa Romeo to make the 2uettottanta

I think/hope what you're describing is a RWD version of the Focus RS. I too love the wagon style and wish they had it in the U.S. If they come to the U.S. with the RS I might have to seriously reconsider keeping my car for 10 years before I trade/sell...

If all you want is a convertible sports car with a V6, there are plenty of options. I just want one for Miata money.

I can't get excited about Alfas unless they intend to sell them for working-man money, which I don't think they ever will.

They're changing up the landscape of Alfa to compete with BMW/Merc/Audi. All AWD/RWD, no more MiTo or little runabouts like that which sacrifice performance/luxury for a price point. Doubt it'll ever be "working man" money for a new one, but used ones will be there.

That 2uettottanta was floated a while ago as a companion car to the Mazda MX-5. They ran into difficulties (Alfa being boneheaded about every Alfa being built in Italy) so they're likely going to share a platform and sell under the FIAT/Abarth badge sometime in 2016.
