New color for 2015 - CR choice

So I've decided to ditch the wrap and go for a new paint job... I have narrowed my choice down to 3... I would love to get CR's vote!

 

1) Black Diamond (exclusive for CTS-V) - My top choice

My first choice, before starting looking at alternatives was Black Diamond. I like the metallic tint that can give it a dark 'grey' metallic tint, but can also be black in lack of direct light... I always loved my car in black, as I think it just looks "mean"... I also think I can do some interesting things with accent colors on wheels/sponsor logos. etc... My fear/concern is that it may end up being too "bass boat" appearing, but when i see it in person, from 5+ feet way on the road, I dont get that impression. I really need to see it up close and personal.

 

The blue I love because I just think it is a great color that stands out, and is a great color option for corvettes...

 

The shark grey, I think gives it 'color' or substance, and still have that "mean" appearance that you lose with bright colors most often. My concern with the shark grey is that it may end up being too 'pewter' to my liking...

 

 

So, just want to hear what my other car franz like...

I'm a big fan of the Black Diamond...but I'd be nervous about getting such a heavy flake right on an aftermarket respray.

 

Any thoughts about the Thunder Gray color on '06-'07 CTS-V's? I'm a little biased...

Black Diamond. The blue is nice, but not really sure how much different it is than Electron Blue. The Shark Grey is also nice, but like you said, when I saw the first pic example you posted, I thought "Ew, Pewter...".

My FJ is Black Diamond...but you dont want Toyotas version lol. The speckles are purple, green, and blue instead of the silver, grey, and awesome in the first pic.

Laguna Blue is my favorite color since Nassau Blue, so that would be my choice

If you're looking at rich, deeper color, my FiL's 2015 Stingray came in Night Race Metallic. It's damn near black, only showing a really deep blue metallic in the sunlight, and it's really stunning in person.

I'm not really a fan of aftermarket sprayed black cars....way too many opportunities to notice mistakes but of those 3 it's the one I'd choose.

 

Throw cyber gray in that mix and I'd change my vote in an instant.

I know that you said you wanted opinions from among the three colors you chose, but my choice for that particular car would be this:

Ever since Bentley introduced the apple green, I've wanted it.

 

Also, I've wondered if as many CTS-V owners would choose Diamond Black if it were named Dusty Black (which is what it looks like to me). So much of it is what the name connotes rather than how the car actually looks like in that color.

 

I'm sure you'll be satisfied with whatever color you finally select.

As stated, the flake in that GM grey is HUGE, and IMO, very ugly.

 

I'd probably pick the blue out of the 3, but none are good IMO.

I like the Black Diamond and White Diamond colors on big broad sided cars like the Cadillacs and trucks, but can't picture it looking right on a curvey car like a C5. It just seems that the flake would stand out in spots given whatever lighting angle hits it.

 

Do you like Cyber grey? Never seen that on a C5z.

 

Out of your choices I think the Blue would look best on the car.

I'm currently wrapping my C5 in matte metallic Azura Blue so I'm kinda partial but... The color on the 4th CTSv coupe is amazing. Looks like a dark grey with copper? I dunno, tits though.

Jarod, father in law owns a body shop, I'm only paying for paint. And after a year tracking a wrapped car, it is way more of a pita than paint...
