EssFo
A little back story, this truck belonged to my best friend in high school. When he passed away in 01 his dad kept the truck and stored it in his garage. He would get it out now and then and drive it up and down the street but it mostly just sat in the corner. Last summer he decided to get rid of it so I picked it up for cheap. It's a 93, 351W with 89K miles. This is when I picked it up. Factory single stage paint + red = pink http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/pinkL1_zpsaqilvgzb.jpg http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/PinkL2_zpspu96lzyi.jpg Over the winter I flushed all the fluids and did a basic tune up. The stock (original) exhaust was rotting away so I did a header back side exit Bassani. For the most part the truck was rust free. The exception was both rear fenders. Had to cut out the metal and replace. Friend of mind does side work so I let him have the truck over the winter. http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/20AC8B31-6AA0-4BF0-9765-3F7105C5F0D4_zpsde39222z.jpg There was one dent in the bed, had that pulled also http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/AA9B2FB7-680C-45D3-861D-BF94E6F01413_zpswsjfipe7.jpg http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/DEE43F30-A041-4905-97DF-1394666A4D56_zps548yo3al.jpg http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/FED991F0-ECFE-4383-98D0-D2A02FAB5D26_zps4hjxmzhf.jpg This shows how faded the single stage paint was http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/BB54B05F-86E6-482A-B3D2-0A9079323C21_zpsl7p9ss1t.jpg Back together. It still needs cut and buffed one more time but it turned out really good. http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/A9185CC3-CE1B-4012-8592-60C28FB3FDA5_zpsfm0iidup.jpg http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/70E8F8E0-B4E3-4D1D-8F59-6D0A471CF23C_zpsqltnrt0h.jpg http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/974C2D86-7ED9-4B12-9941-B3D59979BF00_zpstq5rodsp.jpg Had the bed Rhino Lined on Friday http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ted_kennedy/lightning/D89EB527-4E1B-4334-8A63-B4A71102ABC4_zpswvf5acwr.jpg The next step is to install a hitch, get the trans flushed then FIND A TRAILER. :gabe:
Nickey4271647545519
Looks good, the roll pan is a nice addition. You getting a hide-a-hitch? And I'm assuming you re-sprayed it with a 2 stage vs a single stage?
Mitch
Nice project, Turned out great. I'd assume the interior is in pretty good shape, right?

RyM3rC
Nicely done. I guess we should expect yet another trailered autox car on slicks now?
zeitgeist57
I've got a soft spot for 1st-gen Lightnings. ...and that's saying a lot, considering they are short-bed, auto-only tee-ruks

Not Brian
auto rwd zzz looks nice though, I guess (for red). I would have Rhino-Lined the top outside lines of the bed as well though, or whatever they're called. http://i.imgur.com/urVmtiE.jpg

And I'm assuming you re-sprayed it with a 2 stage vs a single stage? Correct. No more single stage crap. I've been looking at different hitch options. Interior is in good shape. I might replace the carpet and re-paint some of the interior trim.

zeitgeist57
I would have Rhino-Lined the top outside lines of the bed as well though, or whatever they're called. I wouldn't. Having a Lightning with Rhino-Liner visible on the bedsides would be dumb. Yeah, he's sacrificing a little bit of protection, but I don't think this tee-ruk is going to be seeing scrap banging around on top of the bedrails. I dig the rear rollpan as well. Would love to see a hideaway trailer hitch if you can (where the license plate flips down and the receiver is behind it) as well as a spare tire delete; just carry a can of Fix-A-Flat, a AAA card, or keep the spare tire on your trailer when you buy it so you're never stranded when hauling. Exactly. The bed will see some stuff but nothing that will be hitting the bed rails. I'm looking at flip down plate holders at the moment. The roll pan has a square provision to cut out for the hitch. I just need to find a good one. The spare is going away for sure. I hate seeing it sit under there. It's probably NEVER been off the truck.
TimTaylor751647545500
Great that you're able to keep your friend's memory alive in bringing his truck back onto the road. Congrats on the project and end result. Turned out great.

LJ
You should probably upgrade the brakes and upgrade the rear suspension if you plan on towing with it.
rl
They tow better with a 76mm turbo. I have a white one with a 76mm turbo I tow my race car with... That is when my race car ran. Edited May 11, 2015 by rl
