Otis Nice
Link and more pics. No clue why someone can get down there to take pics but they couldn't ever be retrieved. Doesn't really say and I don't care enough to do further research right now. I care just the right amount to post this here.
SpaceGhost
Literally the second sentence under the title of the Article... There used to be a garage inside the tunnel but after portions of it collapsed the cars got trapped there.
Otis Nice
Literally the second sentence under the title of the Article... Yes, I understand that, but if someone can get down there could they not be excavated? I mean, with today's equipment and knowledge, why can't they be dug out? mrs.cos
It's probably just not worth it financially.
Otis Nice
It's probably just not worth it financially. I could understand that. Regardless, I just thought these pics were pretty cool and what little of the story we know is cool. That's all.
Second Gen
Would rock the white car with the MUO 124R plates.. Unsure if that is a older Yota or potentially a Mazda (Other??) Pass on the Lotus Elite type 75 (Yuck) Agreed still a cool article and would be cool to visit if close and half way around the world. Geeto67
Not a single one of those cars is rare, valuable, or hard to replace in nice condition for $5000 in todays money. It is so not worth it to excavate what I have to imagine is 1000s of tons of rubble. The most interesting one though is this: That's an AMC pacer. In Liverpool England. In the 70's. Which was probably really expensive to import new. Let that sink in for a minute.
Cordell
That's a pretty neat place to have a shop. I bet you couldn't get permits to have an automotive shop underground these days, even if some engineers ensured no cave-ins, the chemicals and gases would ensure how bad of an idea that is. Still a cool shop in my opinion.
