What should I look at that's manual, RWD and a convertible

I'd get a later one with the DFI motor personally, as opposed to the m96/m97 or whatever the previous ones had

Why's that, is that when the did a full engine redesign and it finally was 'good', IMS, etc?

I guess I should have clarified. It seems like the early ones, 05-06 are in my current price point and seem to have a similar level of performance as some of the other picks. I think you need an 08-12 to get DFI and that's only in the S, those are closer to $30k and probably still have a lot of deprecation left in them.

Right, got rid of the IMS, and at least in the 911s I have yet to read about the newer 9a1 motor having any bore scoring or cylinder chunking issues. Don't think the smaller boxster engines were as affected, and really it's internet-tastic for the most part but still affects resale and peace of mind.

I can think of at least 3 people that autox regularly on the older motors, 2 of them over 100k and none have had ims, scoring, d-chunking, etc issues.
