Zx2guy19
If you think 9k for a 10 almost 11 year old first year turbo BMW with closing in on 170k is good you both need to check the market a lot better. Does the color pair well for sure but for 10k you can get newer with far less mileage considering this car is pretty stock it's nothing special. Don't mind Steve everyone. He works for a company that allows him to buy wholesale so he never thinks a car is a good deal. We don't all have the luxuries he does. I heard it 10-15 times while looking for an FX4. Crossle
Not really. ko racing and ATS are still the leaders of aftermarket. People are still clinging to ct20b or ct27. Still the same piggy backs utlizied. ATS does have a full plug and play standalone ecu but that just proved my point as well. Any serious power requires a standalone. Same t3/t4 turbo kits or gt30/35 kits. Literally the same stuff has been around. Look I get it, any dweeb can buy a newer turbo car plug a computer in and boom make more power. (not saying I wouldn't) It's not for everyone. It's frankly a little boring. 300wheel in a 2700# car is entertaining considering the car is a little more challenging to drive than others. Nobody is saying MR2's are cheap. No one is saying they are an easy platform. At this point though they are only going to go up in value and now is the time to get into it while you can. I'll stand by the car since I've owned it for almost 12 years now and it's not going anywhere. I'm super happy that the aftermarket is still as strong as it is and parts are still as available as they are.

Once things start to break, it becomes a horrible investment very quickly. Tavarish (Freddy Hernandez) has a YT channel where he's been wrenching on a CraigsList-Special Mercedes SL55 AMG that he got for $8,900. While I'm not stupid to think that there's some things he's not showing for the camera, it's seemed to be a relatively straightforward car to repair as things have started breaking. You are generally right, especially for people who don't wrench. However, the internet can be your friend to repairing these high-mileage luxury cars... Agreed, obviously doing it yourself makes it a little easier on the wallet, but just as aggravating to spend your time fixing it.

coltboostin
Lets take this full circle- Here is the original post. Fuck I'm getting bored with DDing a stock car...since I sold the Colt and the Evo, my craving for a fun car has been at an all time high. Here are my requirements: I would prefer a 4 cyl turbo carIf it's a V8, I'd prefer it be an LS engineMUST be a manual- no exceptionsPrefer white, black or red (this is the least worrysome thing on my list)I don't want a piece of shit project car...I know how to work on stuff but I don't have a garage anymore so it makes it tough. I realize having a fun car requires work, and I'm fine with that, but I'm not trying to be fixing shit on day 1. All in under 10k. If I HAD to go to 12k, I can, but prefer under 10k. NO mention of a truck. Truck may have been mentioned later, but I hope the OP re-reads this, and realized a truck is not going to fulfill the need! BStowers023
Best advice I can give because I've learned my lesson too many times... Don't go cheap. The risk is too high and you'll likely lose the money you saved by paying for repairs one way or another. Buy something nice, well taken care of and stock or as close to stock as possible then mod as you go. Don't take on someone else's problems. Zx2guy19
I'll post some pics of the truck tomorrow. I really think I got an awesome fucking deal on the purchase and my trade in. Drove this beast 3 hours home and it rides flawlessly. Crossed over 40k miles on the way. As far as a fun car, I'm down with a 350z or those 335i's for sure. I will have to wait a month or two but still actively looking for the right deal.

Zx2guy19
Here are a couple pics. I crossed over 40k miles on the way home (bought it with 39,950) and it's completely loaded with every option available except the tailgate step ladder and bed liner (no idea why there isn't a bed liner but there's a tonneau cover)- I'm most excited about a sunroof, A/C seats and remote start, things my Caddy didn't have. The only plans I have are tint, a spray in liner and a tune to help with gas mileage (although I averaged 19.5 on the way home yesterday). http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/chopperman19/IMG_8923_zpso1sg7aea.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/chopperman19/IMG_8924_zpsaz8rlcey.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/chopperman19/IMG_8927_zpsagitoibo.jpg
