Brandon
https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonnotte/2018/08/22/austin-texas-gets-a-major-league-soccer-deal-while-columbus-ohio-gets-stiffed/#333d7325780c So...I heard an interesting "hot take" from a community contact last week: MLS is waiting to see what happens with the Modell Law hearing, but may allow C'Bus to keep the Crew and award Austin with their own franchise. We'll see... MLS is trying to save face if that occurs then.
zeitgeist57
MLS is trying to save face if that occurs then. That's the idea: why kill good publicity if you can get paying parties in both cities to pony up for a franchise???

The franchisor is the only winner then really; but they always are. Dilutes the rest of the teams lol

SpaceGhost
Can Columbus go back to not caring about soccer now? For real, and I’m sorry for starting this thread. In other news I have tickets to the next crew game I’m selling for $675 a piece. Trying to sell these to support my cocaine habit.

zeitgeist57
New renderings for Crew SC stadium in the Arena District: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/09/24/columbus-crew-reveals-new-stadium-renderings.html?ana=e_colum_bn_breakingnews&j=84001741&t=Breaking%20News&mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTW1aaFkyTTJOVGhpTWpabSIsInQiOiJoUm5BM1ZrYnlTTjhRN0VPenN5NERVaktwaXdicTN6Y2p3UzRWN093VVl5QTIySlNLV2RzVUhwWVpKZVFNV1Z4dXZhdERtd2d2a3RYWldrNzhZTjBnaTZRM2tlMWxpNXdRdzF2V3dFanlWVVB4YWRadGNLNU5ndmFVMnN6aDZvUiJ9 I was at a Crew game a couple of weekends ago, and had a really good time. Looking back at this thread, it's amazing to see the highs and lows that this Crew debacle went through. Regardless of what you think about soccer, I'm glad we retained the franchise for the City. Looking forward to getting to the new stadium!
Patrick
The new ownership has been awesome this year. The Haslams have been at most if not all of the home games this year, with Dee making regular appearances at the Nordecke saying hello to fans. This regime compared to last has been night and day. Can't wait until it opens, although I'll miss the Megatailgate in Mapfre's lot.

Hopeful new location and new ownership will breathe more life into the Crew. It's good to see all he building going on in the Arena District when you're driving into downtown from 670.
