New off road / tow rig

I want to start off roading and need a tow rig for the move so I found this clean P38 range a couple hours away. Its a 50th anniversary edition. It had a busted rear diff. So towed it home and swapped in a new diff. Changed all fluids in the truck. Picked up a set of 19's from a L322 range rover and swapped those on for street use. It has been converted to coil springs already. I went ahead and ordered terrafirma shocks and steering damper. Also ordered the red and clear tail from a late model and clear corners for the front. Lastly ordered suede to wrap the headliner and a,b,c pillars. It runs wonderfully. Last things I'm going to do is get a bluetooth stereo and get a new bigger cam then just enjoy it. 18281d2ad519ac887e98ec9629a11c57.jpg4992c4f22225bb4eb966f11b667d9f53.jpg8c0e1d93d878c63775feb8ce81c59174.jpg9dd5d4c2fca3877be9310ffea3ee66e1.jpg

what happened to the RR classic?

nice score.

Well the rover didn't last long. I put a feeler out to sell. Had a guy show up paid me $5000 for the gold one this morning.

The grey one is in Cleveland and I backed out of the deal for it. So I turned my $750 to $5000 and did zero work to it. Not a Bad day

I like it.

There used to be a group of Land Rover owners that would go offroading at The Wilds. I always wanted to go participate but never got to it when I owned my LRs.

I'm part of the land rover group here. Have been for about 5 years now. I used to have a really nice discovery 2.

Maybe we could go run some of the "roads" up near Danville. Most you can probably do in 2WD, but some are a little bumpy. Can just explore, take the kiddos ect. Can be fun for a weekend outing. maybe 4-5 hours total. Brian could even hang on those dubs lol

Generally speaking something that is good at towing isn't good at offroading

Good luck

Typically.

I only need to tow a car or boat or small trailer. It won't have an issue

Well, those 3 things definitely weigh 3 different amounts so...

If your tow rig has to be towed in, you're gonna have a bad time.

True. No vehicle can ever be repaired/restored/upgraded. You're doomed.

Got dat Barbara Walters photo filter

New lighting went on this morning. Looks 1000% better without the orange.

Shocks came in yesterday. Waiting on steering damper and full exhaust next. Modifying this car is so damn cheap. Full set of terrafirma shocks $175 shipped. New headers $200. New cam $200. New exhaust $200. Its amazing f3c63aeb305cdc844c8f62a61a5712a6.jpg2598a7838446fc7b334cf1d0af963996.jpg

That's for the l322 range when BMW made the engine. I wouldn't mess with one of those cars.

Only rrc or p38. Super capable off road and not as many electrical issues. On the plus side the cult following for rec and p38 is making them rise in value

Terrafirma shocks and steering damper installed today. Also installed a new lower track rod. Handles so much better now. Also took out the headliner and pillars to get wrap in suede. 3e48002bbb8193d87f887301f9404454.jpg2894669e1379d64f361689d6adb1d04d.jpg43e14a7f5d18b24b536d5c7530c125fe.jpg
