Casper
Dear Riders: I am Sue Slate, national programs chair of the Women's Motorcyclist Foundation, Inc. We ride to end breast cancer. On September 16 & September 17, 2006, we are working with WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing Sharing and Giving) to host a two day motorcycle relay. It starts in Dover, Ohio and goes down to Pickerington, OH over to Richmond, IN and across to Danville, IL, Forthsythe, IL and on to Springfield, IL. Once registered for $10, riders may choose to ride any or all of the legs of this relay as long as they join or rejoin the ride at a designated stop and attend the stop's riders' meeting. WINGS provides post operative support for uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients. For myself, I just lost my 37 year old cousin to breast cancer. Deanna also suffered from lupus. Between the two, though her husband Michael was working and had hospitalization, the treatments and prescriptions always cost more than what the insurance paid out. Now that Deanna has passed, Michael is forced to sell their home to crawl out of medical debt. This is just one example of how a hard working family can go from being financially stable to near destitution due to long term illness and its treatments. WINGS is helping to fill and incredibly large void for an incredible large number of people. If you join this ride, you will get escorted on each leg Pony Express Style, for those of you who have been Pony Express Riders. You'll also be greeted with food and hydration at each stop. This ride is for men and women. Over 40% of the members are men. Below is the itinerary for the two days. You'll also find hotel information for Richmond, IN and Springfield, IL. We very much hope you will help spread the word of this ride and join us on this Journey of Hope. Thank you.
