Route 250 in WV

If anyone is looking for a great ride that is about an hour and half away from Columbus.... this is a great route! LPSanders and I went on a two day trip to WV two weeks ago.... After taking the loop around Wheeling..we got off at Route 250 S . The beginning of the road isn't the best but a GPS could take you on an alt route to 250.

There were some sweet bends and awesome views! The road was pretty clear until it got close to Fairmont. There were a few hit or miss areas with gravel. Most people say to continue on that road and there are even better bends and sights. We didn't have more than two days so we stayed in Fairmont. There is a great Red Roof Inn that has rooms where bikes can be rode right in. Now..I wouldn't recommend telling the office but LP and I got both of ours in the room with no problem. Next time..we request a handicap room! We had to share the sink with her CBRR 600!

There were plenty of other bikers on the road and it was pretty easy to pass slower cars. We even hooked up with some guys from VA. They followed us to Columbus and were shocked at our Iron Pony! I guess we all take that store for granted! haha

I think we both got some serious confidence after these roads! They were even trickier than Hocking Hills! I did almost wipe out in a hair pin turn down a hill with a bit of gravel. Let's just say that after that I almost couldn't ride for a while! LP was shocked that I was able to not just skid the bike on its side. I guess I would have been dead if a car was coming the other direction...ugh! After 600 miles..we were good with no damaged bikes...until we got to Steak N Shake and I didn't push the kickstand down all the way...oops! LP's bike caught mine and off went the mirror and the corner of my windshield! What a bunch of crap! Sooooo now I need a new windshield for my SV650.... Anyone have one to sell? I did replace the mirror though..

Oh...notice our new shiny seats! We replaced them with glittery vinyl! What a pain that was..but the result.... SHINY :) The 3 layers on foam inside were perfect too!

Great ride report' date=' ladies! Next time you go take US250 to Hundred, WV and pick up WV-7. Take that all the way to the Ohio/WV border. You won't be disappointed.

Keep logging the miles... and next time let's get some shots of the pajama action.. you know what I'm talkin' about.[/quote']

I wish we had more time this summer!

I'm planning a trip to Monongahela in two weeks with my Dad. I'm either going to take 250 from New Philadelphia and meet my Dad in Morgantown on Friday night, or meet him at his house in Woodbridge, VA on Thursday night, that was we can come down through the Shenandoah National Park/Skyline Drive.

My Dad has rode plenty through WV and he is a big fan. I'm looking forward to it.
