Without a hesitation. Unions were useful when companies could do things like lock workers in, force them to work in unsafe conditions etc etc....

Just because you've been working for 25 years doesn't mean you should be paid a set amount, that's why we ended up with janitors at GM making 6 figures.

Seriously, unions aren't needed anymore, all they do is create an environment where people can group bargain... you all claim free market... unless it means you may get paid less

idiot. take your blinders off and do your homework before you bash someone. what do you do for a living likwid?

I agree that at one point unions served a major purpose. They created equality in the work place (so to speak). But, on the other hand, I agree that they are over-rated now. Some of them are just using the unions to take advantage. Regardless of how we look at it, it has caused issues in the U.S. There are too many people that do not take pride in there work these days, and just expect a paycheck. That sucks! I think that everyone should be paid based on experience, performance, and attendance. Things that really matter. I do agree that there needs to be some type of guidelines set for employers as well. But, all that being said, I can somewhat see both sides of this issue.

P.S. I hate the fact that the casinos were approved! Here comes the "B.S" to our state!!

There is a major welding manufacturer in Euclid and Mentor ( red welding equipment ) that pays majority of workers using the above method, piecework. You get paid by what you produce.

where were these debates a week or month ago??

My view on unions aren't relative to the casinos in OH. I dont agree with them but I'm glad that it will provide work for ALOT of displaced workers.

I will agree that there are ALOT of unions that have out lived their usefullness. But not all of them. So I ask that you and others not categorize all unions as being the evil that destroys America because it's just not true.

HA! Maybe if you had a union to fight for you then you could be a supervisor :-D

now THAT was on purpose.

:nono:
