max power
My cousin lived in Phoenix a couple of year. They open carry, he strapped on his anaconda and went to the grocery store. Freaked me out. While there I noticed 4 other guys with hand cannons walking around. I would love to see a guy do that at the Walmart at Polaris or easton. The law would be all over it.Theres a walmart at Polaris?

chevysoldier
The fact that we have to pay a fee to exercise our constitutional rights as Ohioans pisses me off enough. Again' date=' another fine example of how to punish law abiding citizens for not breaking the law. Likwid
While most, if not all WallyWorlds won't be posted the complex they are in could be. That being said, carrying concealed in a parking lot is a civil matter, but I would never advocate breaking the law.

It does nothing to prevent unlawful concealed carry by felons and only inconveniences the good guysSPOT ON!!That's pretty much my thoughts on ANY gun control crap. It's not the law-abiding citizens that will LAWFULLY own guns, and register them that need to be worried about, it's the criminals that have guns that nobody WILL know about that we need to worry about. It would be the same story (maybe even worse) if a gun ban was to occur.

jporter12
+1.. save for the registration part. I don't support any gun registration for the same reasons I don't support "carry registration". That' date=' and it's none of anybody's business how many, what kind, where at.... etc.[/quote']Not saying that I support registration, as it has just been the beginning, first registration, then fees just to exercise the right to carry, what next? Whitey1
Could someone please clarify the long gun law. I always put them in my trunk unloaded of course. I figure that would be less likely to cause panic then if I was next to someone at a stoplight with it laying on my seat.

Whitey1
Unloaded with action open, no matter where it is.Trunk is perfectly fine. Thanks, I thought it was ok but I was second guessing myself. When me and my homies are gangbanging in the Ford Escort through the hood we just drop the mags on the floorboards and throw the gun into the back hatch.:D:D:D:D:DSeriously though thanks. I think some of the laws are crazy because we know damn well that someone that plans on breaking the law and commiting a violent crime doesnt give a rats ass whether the action is open etc. I think it is just something they throw out there to add on to charges for criminals. Rod38um
I've thought about open carry........ I came to the conclusion that I dont like it. At least not for me. I have 2 reasons. #1)I have become comfortable with concealed carry and often dont even think about it. I cant afford to "not" think about it if its open carry. I couldnt trust the guy behind me in line anywhere to not just reach up and take it before I could stop him. I'd hate to be standing at superquick with my hands full of pop and chips and some idiot yanks my weapon and start shooting or holding the place up. #2) If someone does start something, If I have a weapon in the open, I'm the first target. I dont like the idea of being the first target. I want to be the guy nobody notices till I pull my weapon and return fire. So I think I'll just keep mine concealed........ Rod38um
However, I have been out hunting, walked out to a main road and walked right into a grocery store carrying a 12 gauge pump, picked up some snack food, paid and left........ and nobody said a thing. City people are the ones that tend to shit down their leg when they see a gun in public. Those who grew up outside the city, tend to have grown up with guns and also typically have more common sense than burbanites or citiots, especially where firearms are concerned. If you were in there in hunting gear, with a hunting gun, what is there to fear? Rod38um
Yeah...... Its a pretty rural area and me and the other guy were both in hunting gear. Some areas, I wouldnt have been so bold..... but still would have been just as legal no matter the place....
jporter12
It's not illegal to own more than one gun. It is illegal to vote more than once. There's a difference. And don't forget you have to be here legally in order to vote. Also' date=' registering to vote is to know WHERE to vote, and what you'll be voting for or against. All it does is cause law abiding citizens added stress of wondering if the long arm they don't intend to kill anyone with at any time is loaded or not. Just like some of the people in this thread asking questions about the specifics of the law. Trying to make sure you understand 100% so you don't accidentally break the law is reason enough to prove that the law is counterproductive.QFT
jporter12
Ohio doesn't have registration. That "first registration" is a record of sale. Registration is much different. Records of sale stay with the FFL indefinitely. Once that FFL discontinues the records move to the successor or' date=' if there isn't one, to the Ohio State Attorney General. Except in rare instances this record doesn't go to the federal level.[/quote']Thanks for the info, something I didn't know.

I saw a guy at wal mart the other day (some young doucher looking guy wearing an ed hardy t-shirt and spiked hair) with a 9 mm hand gun tucked between his pants and back with his shirt pulled behind the gun so that it was intentionally clearly visible. All I could come up with was the guy wanted people to see it so they think he's a bad ass or something. He won't be such a bad ass when someone walks right up behind him and takes it before he even knows they are there.

jbot
what difference does it make how he has his gun secured? is it openly visible? is he waving it around like it's the thunderdome? as long as he's not infringing on you, why is it any of your business?the moment he makes it your business (ie, waving it around, pointing it at people, you) then hopefully you'll have the means to protect yourself. whether you do that with a gun secured held to your thigh with a level 3 retention system for everyone to see or a IWB, a gun tucked in your pants, pointing right at your junk, or even one of these:that'll be your right.the key here is, hopefully, you'll take advantage of that right, and not let it die or fade into obsolescence where even the people who are to enforce the laws have no idea how the law works.if the government cannot guarantee basic, effective, timely personal protection, then the government must not infringe upon the rights of its people to protect themselves. Todd#43
I still would like a permit process of OC.Spoken like a true liberal. We all know that the government is the protector of ALL of us.Certainly we can be sure that everyone operating a MV is properly licensed and approved - I mean, there's a "permit process" for that. It is none of my business if he wants to show eveyone that he is a dumbass. Holtsers are made for a reason, to securly keep the weapon on ur body without it falling out, keeps it at a location easy for draw if needed, and they also help keep someone else from grabbing the gun. This just shows how inept he is with firearms. Kind of like the bar shootout in Toledo. No on got hit.
