jporter12
Even IF this would pass, how many NON-DICKHEAD LEO's are going to do anything different than they do now? MOST of them that I know personally will probably not do anything different than now, unless you're being a dumbass and deserve worse, then this will just give them something else to throw at squids! max power
What would you say is the ratio of dickhead to non-dickhead LEO's?
jagr
I know that asshole CPD Freeway Patrol motherfucker will take a shitload of bikes. I can't remember his name.
smashweights
if that passes, guess I'll just start running. they're taking the bike anyway.+1, they're pretty much saying when i blast off down the entrance ramp to 71 in the morning cause i like to get up to highway speed quickly that they'll impound the bike?So who determines how hard one is allowed to brake? Accelerate? Seems like a lot of potential for abusive cops.don't be silly, they'll have a dual purpose speedometer/accelerometer. Better start making signs "Accel. Limit: 100mph/h"
RFM
By definition of that bill, I'm an outlaw street racer. Although I rarely go more than 10mph over the speed limit.
jporter12
I don't see it passing anyway. It seems to me that it's just another attempt at wringing the life out of us, turning us into drones.... Uh, oh. Twice in 12 hours that I've used that drone reference.... fusion
If I had more time I would read through the whole thing, but don't the changes surround seriously injuring or killing someone. Are there changes to the standard code for street racing as just a violation? Maybe I just missed it.
V4junkie
Yep you missed it. The charges for injuring/killing someone are heavier, but it modifies the current definition of "street racing" to include acceleration, braking, or cornering above whatever the LEO might consider "normal use." So if I'm going down an empty backroad and a cop hears me coming with my engine anywhere above, let's say, 4k rpm and accelerating, I could be hauled in for street racing whether or not I was really over the speed limit or driving recklessly. jhaag
We will all be safe from these potential laws if we rode Harleys. Jussayin'.thats what 'they' want! if you try to run all you'll be doing is making a lot of noise, while you dont get away, and get tagged with a noise violation, in addition to the 'exhibition of speed'......but, you could also argue that you just saved countless lives with all the noise you just created with your loud pipes.....cheeky bastards
fusion
Yup you're right I found it. I hadn't read slowly enough through the bottom part. Stupid job trying to make me work and all. This doesn't read out of the norm though., "© Any exhibition of speed or acceleration that is inconsistent with the normal operation of a vehicle on a public road, street, or highway." That's the type of phrasing I thought has always been used.I'll have to read and see if there's something else I'm missing. The part I find a little too vague is the section on nitrous. I'm not sure, "use nitrous oxide in a motor vehicle that the person operates on a public road, street, or highway in this state." is defined well enough. What does "use" mean in this case? Actual use of the nitrous or merely installing it?
