Hoblick
i was replacing a front tire tonight.. checking over this and that and noticed the steering head bearings had some play..pulled the top clamp off loosened the lock nut and torqued the bottom nut to spec and reassembled. just a little heads up for anyone who doesnt know to check it!get bike up in the air grab fork legs and try to wiggle them front to back (front of bike to back of bike, not side to side) if you have play in it, then it needs tightened or bearings may be shot.. tighten it up to spec if you still have play then the bearings are probably shot.that is all

Phreon
What if you can't feel any play but there's a noticeable detent when you move the bars (wheel off the ground)? I'm guessing it's time to replace the bearings, but thought I'd ask. Ol' BeaterHawk (NH 750) gets a mild wobble while decelerating through 40 MPH or so with hands off the bars. Thanks, Doug
