I thought there was a law against you reproducing...

Congrats man, exciting times, and rough ones too.

get the baby on a schedule. It will be easier in the long run...

+1 on this! Being a new parent is rough, but fun. Having a schedule, not a strict one, but one that is easy for you does amazing things. My wife and I put our kid on one and she is pretty easy to take care of. She goes to bed on her own without us having to "rock" her to sleep. Been doing it since two months... And no, I do not know everything :D

Probably should start a separate "words of wisdom from other parents thread"...

When Jr. was born, the pediatrician told me that there are 4 reasons a baby cries:

1) The baby is hungry (fix by feeding)

2) The baby is cold or hot (fix by adding/removing blankets)

3) The baby is wet (fix by changing diaper (and if the child is boy, have something ready to cover his, umm, johnson, as the cool air hitting it when the diaper is removed can cause a much-stronger-than-you-would-have-ever-believed stream of piss to come out and nail you in the face))

or

4) The baby just feels like crying, for which there is no fix except patience.

Also, ask for a vibrating baby chair for the shower, or buy it yourself. Best. Thing. Evar. Soothes a crying infant like magic. Or just rinse the binkie in whiskey; that'll also work...

If we name it after you, isn't that also naming it after me?

Yes, but different. You would know the difference, while everybody else would think the kid was named after you. See?

^^^ This! We were fortunate, and Eric rarely cried just to be crying. We're praying that the one we have due about a month before the Stillman kid will be the same way!

it's vibrating, it's not like you're giving the kid to Michael J. Fox.

We have one of those, and it does work well, as long as the chair doesn't vibrate it's way off the table!

You should teach him/her sign language. Stuff like food, drink, please, thank you... We did this with Brooke and it made it soooo much easier to understand what she wanted until she learned to talk. I have a DVD or three for this. Let me know if you'd like to borrow it.
