I have 3 Airtran round trip tickets to anywhere domestic. I'm not a vacation traveler so I have been asking around and also searching on line for packages and they are confusing.. Disneyland, Disney World, A dude ranch in Montana, Alaska, were the standard suggestions. I really don't want to waste the flights to fly to Florida. I'm taking my two 11 year old daughters. Disney world does seem to have a lot to offer although it's confusing. Disney Land seems like there are fewer attractions. I'd be going at the end of July into August for a week or two. The kids arn't opposed to a dude ranch.

Any suggestions?

I've driven into Vegas multiple times and gambled in the casinos. I am way more impressed with the drive in when its dark. All the lights are amazing. The Hoover damn isn't all that far either. I love the redwood in northern California although not all that exciting for 11 year olds or at least not enough to fly out there. Grand canyon and painted desert would be my top choice.

Grand Canyon, Seaworld, and California for the no humidity would be nice. Redwoods would be awesome but ya, not for the kids. Orlando does seem to have all the entertainment in one spot.

I went to Orlando a 3 or 4 years ago and did the Disney/Seaworld/Universal bit and had a good time. If the vacation is for your kids, which is sounds like it is, and they have never been then they will have a blast. Kid oriented and it is all very close to each so your driving is down like you want.

I agree with this. AND if they are Harry Potter fans, they just opened up that new Harry Potter theme park as part of Disney. Non-stop stuff to do around there.

I think the Grand Canyon is nice, but it might be a bit boring for kids. It's like once you've seen it, you've seen it, and you're begging dad to leave.

Hawaii might be fun though.

Orlando might be a bit hectic and not seem like a relaxing vacation to YOU exactly, but your kids will have so much fun. You will enjoy making all of those memories and seeing them have the time of their life.

Agree, I keep heading back to the Orlando idea. I forgot, on business, a few months ago we had the entire Harry Potter park to ourselves, it was awesome. They would love it. The virtual rides were awesome.

Go for Maui, and have fun on the beach. Be ready for a long plane ride.

yes. the plane ride is not too bad though.

i like to find flights that have a stop or two, instead of getting a non stop from chicago or something. usually you can sort by shortest travel time, then find one with a stop.

last time we flew CMH to PHX then PHX to OGG. it was nice to get off the plane for a bit, walk around, have a smoke etc etc. 2 five hour flights with a little break in the middle as opposed to 10 hours straight.

We flew from Cleveland, to Phoenix, Arizona. With a small layover, and then we want from Phoenix to Maui. We stayed for a week and, then we flew from Maui to Portland, Oregon. To Houston, Texas. And, back to Cleveland. We can't wait to go back!!*I Highly Recommend! You'll never forget how awesome, Hawaii is. ;-)

http://www.theperrinsrainypasslodge.com/ this is the lodge I was taking about. Apparently there are two.

At $5250 a person I'll pass. I'd love it but the kids I don't think would. The dude ranches/resorts are around $3000/person also...wooo...we should start a dude ranch....
