How does that compare, size wise, to a G23?

Glock sub compacts and XD sub compacts are the same size almost exactly the same. Only difference is the XD adds the backstrap safety and has a lil better angle to the grip

I think it's the service model too, the subcompact has the shorter grip and one mag w/ the extension, right?

You would not be disappointed with an XD.

I agree, after looking at mine, that grip looks to be full length. The barrel length looks the same as the SC though.

Yes that is for sure the service model, and I even have a Pearce extension on my XD9SC 13 round magazine. I wouldnt mind adding that to the collection, however the grip is a tad bit too long for my conceal preference.
