idodishez
A handgun? I'm sure it's a peaceful break to some. And prob would be for me if I had more time. But just wondering if I'm taking too much time. Prob took me 45 mins tonight. (I admittedly don't clean often at all). And part of my OCD kicks in where I would just prefer to douse it in spray cleaner than a half attempt w cleaning pads. (just never know if you got it ALL). Kinda like when my son was in diapers. I would much rather (and did) just stick his butt under the bathtub faucet than mess w numerous baby wipes. (you never know if you got it ALL)
crb
15 minutes maybe, although I don't strip my firerarms to pins and springs normally.

crb
It takes longer some days, and depends what I'm cleaning. Also 15 minutes assumes no interruptions, with 3.5 yr old nephew in the house that rarely happens.

vf1000ride
Depends on handgun and level of filth. Anywhere from 15-60 minutes.
Gixxus Christ!
Just reminded me I haven't cleaned my Beretta or my cz since shot like over a month ago...typically I spend 20 minutes per pistol. I highly recommend kano kroil for gun cleaning, its the shit.
crb
Never tried Kano kroil or seen it. I use CLP and hopes #9 usually. Remoil wipes are nice. What does everyone use for lube (bring on the ky pic)? I used to use gun butter, but I have to order it online. I have standard remoil and some Lucas. The Lucas is a little thicker so its nice to put on firearms that are in storage and don't get shot.
speedytriple
I clean mine till there clean. depends on how dirty they are but I clean my guns every time I shoot them so they don't get nasty. Last range trip it took me about 20-25 mins to clean my handgun. I use hoppes #9 and use hoppes light gun oil to lube them with.
MidgetTodd
Glocks, 5mins. AR, 15mins. Shotguns, 10mins. AK, don't know never cleaned it. Had it for 10 years and about 4000rnds. Not dirty enough yet.
vf1000ride
For lube I normally use Lubriplate grease on the semi-autos. The Smith revolver and the Ruger MK2 gets CLP as the grease seems to thick for them.
flounder
Lube the action/springs, lugs, etc. ONLY CLEAN THE BARREL WHEN ACCURACY STARTS TO FALL OFF!!!!!!! My rifle probably only gets cleaned every 500+ rounds.
conn-e-rot
You don't have to clean Glocks

Steve Butters
i spend about 5 mins on mine ....clean it after every range trip, so nothing ever really builds up....and i use CLP so it cuts some time Edited January 12, 2012 by Steve Butters
chevysoldier
~15 minutes. I use wd40 to clean the barrel. Lube slide and such with a spray on dry lube but can't rem the name right now. Wet lube attracts dirt and dust.
bowdog
I own an M&P, it cleans itself!!
crb
I do have a habit of cleaning almost all of my handguns at the same time whether they need it or not. Once I sit down in cleaning mode I just keep grabbing the next one I like cleaning my guns, I find it relaxing and enjoy the time. Watch the CLP if you get it in your eye it Burns like a mother, it also eats the finish off tables. Edited January 12, 2012 by crb
Steve Butters
just leave the slide locked back and toss it in the dishwasher. good as new.
8mmDale
You don't have to clean GlocksThis. I clean my glocks in the spring when I change my smoke detector batteries.
kawi kid
Glock ftw. And I'm trying a different gun lube right now and so far I'm super impressed. When I get some more time with it ill give a full report. I talked Cbus into trying it also so we can compare results.

This company has a contract withe navy for the huge guns the navy has to keep from rusting and lubed at the same time. http://crusaderweaponry.com/shopThey also do a permanent treatment where you never have to lube it again. http://crusaderweaponry.com/services.php?id=
madcat6183
I clean my carry guns after every range visit, but I don't always clean the full barrel, just the front edge that brushes the clothing, and everything else. I can clean them in about 5 minutes each, or 10 if I am doing the barrel and choose to let the solvent work into the barrel a little more. The AR I am overly anal about and I take 30 mins. I watched a great 2 or 3 part cleaning video on Youtube, and I actually usually play that when I clean them. I like to let the barrel soak a little with that one as I am shooting mainly surplus and cheap stuff.
