Another "can you run a VIN" thread....

This is for an ATV.

I've checked with NICB.com but they only go back five years and the last "owner of record" is 2001/ 2002. No xfers since then.

I spoke to a friend at the BMV/ title office, and was told that a "stolen" flag won't come up in their system until they try to change the owners name.

At this point, I think my best bet is to call the OSP directly BUT I'm concerned that if it comes back stolen, they'll ask me where it is, and it'll open up a hornets nest.

Any advice/ info?

Yeah - don't buy something that has a VIN and no paperwork.

What he said. The last thing you want to do is put time/money/energy into something only to have it seized by the authorities.

I am sure some local Leo's can run it for you to see if it is stolan, if not PM me the VIN and i will have it ran.
