oh_f@ck_its_him
I'm working on finishing my private this coming spring/summer. I already passed ground school, and can't wait to get started with the flying portion.

vf1000ride
Ugh, pilots. Always breaking airplanes. Makes my job fixing them harder.

SquareHead
Going for Sport because I may have some medical issues that will cause problems for Private. Not sure... However, once I get the Sport, I may continue further. Also, the new LSA type aircraft are pretty nice. I am training in a Flight Design CTLS and it is a very nice aircraft. I don't have any plans to do long trips, or carry more than one passenger, night flying, etc. Really just looking to fly during the day, maybe hop to other airports for dinner, etc.I am also interested in Ultralights. Kind of seems like a flying motorcycle. Anyone else flying ultralights?I am taking lessons with Zone Aviation, Lorain County Airport.Chris

Is there a higher fatality rate with ultralights?I hear the deathmobile thing about motorcycles, also...
8Rider6
I'd love to but it's a little cost prohibitive... Unless you go military. Grew up playing flight simulators and one of my dad's friends let me take the controls of a twin prop Piper (don't remember the exact model) for a few minutes when I was 12. May be something I want to invest in if/when I could afford to.

cmh_sprint
I thought I was the only one that noticed! He's probably only 21 years old, too! Funny thing is, that in his intro post he states he is in the Army. Also, he has not profile created and 11 of his 28 posts were in the threads slamming IP. Troll. smccrory
I earned my private pilot, airplane single-engine land (PPASEL) certificate in 2003 and have enjoyed a couple hundred hours in 2-seat and 4-seat Cessnas, Pipers Diamonds and a few others. It's a expensive hobby, but lots of fun and incredibly rewarding. There are a dozen great destinations just an hour or so away (Put-In-Bay, Burke Lakefront, Sandusky, Urbana, Morgantown, Lunken/Cincinnati...). Don't get freaked out about ultralights or homebuilt airplanes if you are willing to get on a motorcycle - you're already comfortable with the risk profile.Where a you thinking about training out of? SquareHead
I just started training at Lorain County Airport with Zone Aviation. Flying a Flight Design CTLS.http://flightdesignusa.com/aircraft/ctls/I really like the idea of flying a side by side two-seater, also.Like this:http://quicksilveraircraft.com/mxl-ii-sport/
smccrory
Fun! Enjoy the lessons and get a set of DVDs if you can. I like the Sporty's series better than King but I've used both. I also REALLY likes Rod Machado's private pilot workbook.
