I had a blast, even though the ride was officially canceled, close to 40 riders showed up for the ride. A big thanks to NinjaDoc, and UnclePunk who more or less chaperoned everyone into manageable groups, and to the leaders/sweepers who volunteered at last minute notice. To download the panoramic group shots (from Flickr), click the picture on Flickr, in the top right click 'view all sizes', and then just right click and 'save-as' to save to your computer. Or, use this link: http://imgur.com/a/z2CoM#S33Rc mouse over the top right gear icon, view full resolution, right click save-as. Was out playing around in my Jeep last Sat with the woman since it was raining. Went over thru Cade's Cove and across the Parson's Branch Road for some off road fun. Dropped down on the Dragon and across 28 towards Bryson City. Stopped off at the BP station there for some gas and a break. While I was inside a guy was using their phone to call for a tow for his bike. So as I was getting ready to leave I saw they all had Ohio plates. Had all my tools with me so I stopped to see if they needed a hand. Guy said his Super Hawk had fried the reg/rec and the battery. They jokingly asked if they could get a ride back for his truck. Oddly enough, they were staying 10 miles from my cabin, so I gave him a 3 hr ride back to his truck so he could get his bike back. Didn't even think of asking if he was a member here. But anyways, helped another Ohio Rider (that may or may not be a member) with his break down.1 point

All the roads were clean, when I asked if anyone wanted to change their spot no one moved up, I didn't hear any complaints, I even remembered to slow down on the straights which is something I have a problem with at times. We had a good group I think the guy that volunteered to sweep might have had more fun & I probably should have switched spots with him to give him a chance to have some fun. We had one mechanical but it was just a rear brake leak that was found before it put him down. MT had a missed turn but I don't count his antics as a reflection of the groups sanity. I have been involved with groups of this size before and most everybody wants to be in the fast group, even some that shouldn't be. This group was different; we even had to recruit some guys that wanted to be in the medium group to ride with us because we had such a small number that wanted to be in the fast group. Everyone belonged in the group and proof of that is that no one went down and no one came up to me to tell me that anyone in the group was riding over their heads. I enjoyed the day & I hope the rest of the group did too.1 point

just keeping this in context since you have a tendency to stray from the point when facing any sort of light resistance to your claims: you are definitely the most... shall we say... "enthusiastic", raving, frothing at the mouth obama supporter on this site. bar none. i rule out the obvious choice, jrmmiii because at least he has from the very beginning, prattled on about his no-homo lust for "i'm fiscally conservative but somehow luuurve me some economy destroying social programs that are insanely easy to exploit". you on the other hand, exclaimed your love of ron paul and being libertarian leaning... and then go on to shout your support of the Ba-rock "the peoples' elbow" Obama, who has introduced to this nation, some of the most constitution defiling shit history has ever seen. i wont get into a lengthy discussion about your issues with personal protection and personal property rights. so yes. ahh ha ha. ha ha ha. ahh hahahahahahahaa aaahhhhhh hahahaahahahahahahahaahahahahahaha bwaaaahahahaahahahahahaahahahahahahhaaaahhahaha looooolmfgwtfroflcopterbbq1 point

you have noble intentions, and showing admirable restraint, but after he gives up on wiki-ing philosophy 101, he'll just change the subject to why obama's weiner tastes so fresh and so clean clean.1 point

Why does the NRA back Romney? Obama signed the bill into law to allow guns in national parks, and on subway trains. on the other hand Romney signed a law to permanently ban many semi-automatic firearms. “These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense,” Romney said in 2004. “They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”1 point

Some people get so offended at that....my ex's mom used to get after me for not following her exact beliefs...then id poke some holes in them and she would crazy mode on me...i just avoided that subject with her all together....she pretty much thought i was going to hell because my church used a different version of the bible than hers does....i asked why she isnt reading the original then? i told her the shit wasnt written in english back in the day! .....she didnt like that1 point

I have read the entire bible and studied other religions (out of curiouity, not as a member). I think religion, it's origin, and associated beliefs are infinitely fascinating. Religion and even church serve a purpose in society, but I personally don't believe in the existence of any type of god. As a rule, I don't piss on anyones beliefs (except Mormons an Scientologists of course). However, when Christians decide they feel bad for me for not sharing their beliefs, I have no problem pointing out obvious flaws in their superstition.1 point

I will not argue, it is beneficial for some. For me, I have no use for it... I have morals and dreams, and aspirations, and character without the need for a deity. For others, it's a torturous existence of self hate and a lack of self esteem because they can never live up to the standards set by bronze age goat herders. Still others use it as an excuse for violence against those that disagree with their views, and justify their violence by passages in their holy books. (mostly the abrahamics)1 point

his own wish isnt really his wish....bitches get in your head like poison....you think youre making your own decision, but really you arent.1 point

I have the opposite view. I believe religion does more harm than good.1 point

I'm going to hell on scholarship. While I'm not religious, I think religion is good (in moderation, as with all things) as it provides a moral compass for those who may otherwise stray to the dark side. Fear of divine retribution and/or eternal damnation can be powerful motivator which is why it was used to control people for centuries.1 point

There are about 537 different ways you could respond to this post. I'll go with option #1, say that I'm sorry to hear of your mother's passing and your loss, and leave it at that.1 point

So this ended up being a Zombie Dream Ride since it died and came right back to life?! Awesome either way, been talking to folks about it ever since we got back. Stellar experience no matter how different it turned out from the initial idea. Gonna have to do this again in the late spring/early summer. I say we plan a 2 day event based out of some Hocking cabins so there's a close locale for us all to hit the hot tubs to reflect, recuperate, rinse, and repeat. 2 full days of riding down there would surely be twice the fun right?1 point
