  6. Ever since the spontaneous decision to buy that Zx14 things been different. Its almost like an evil omen took hold off me. Its nothing to do with the bike. Just that it was wrong timing, being a new father, rebounding with this bike, temptation to go faster, every thing went crazy. The day i bought the bike to home my family was like "it looks like the devil is sitting in the garage" lol And may be it was the influence of that bad omen that made me make the infamously crappy thread that got me nominated for the asshat race The zx will be the first and last shortest bike ownership ever for me. Anyways long story short, ever since my son was born i have been fighting the "inner fear" when ever i am riding. Always in double mind, always rethinking, never fully enjoying riding like i used to the previous years. But after seeing Jerry switch to a Vstrom from the hawk plus test riding that bike i realize may be the comfortable balance is in that kind of different riding. We used to do ride on the edge and was lucky all these years, certainly it was fun. Didnt want to push that luck anymore. Sold the Zx, and just like i feared kept looking through CL and Cycle trader etc. I knew i was going to rebound now or by next spring for sure. i thought, better to do this right now during good deal time as i dont have trailer etc to buy during winter. And there it was a good deal just siting right there close to home, just went to see the bike and after 4 hours i was riding it home. But this one will be staying with me for years like my VFR. Again sorry for the old crappy guess game. No more guessing game here is the bike 2015 Vstrom 650 ABS regular model. As i cant do multiday trips any time soon, will be setting this up for one day long rides. More touring than sport ride. More breathing fresh air than slicing through them. More enjoying the view from upright sitting than tunneled focus on the road ahead. More endorphins than adrenaline

  7. Not sure how long these have been out but I saw a small write up about it in a motorcycle magazine. I didn't know they existed. I ordered one and it arrived yesterday - works great. If you have a pigtail already attached to your battery, it takes just a few seconds to check it. I have an ATV that doesn’t get used much and I keep it on a tender but I know the battery is aging so it’s a good tool to check it and make sure it’s still holding a good charge. They are like $15 on Amazon and totally worth it IMO. Note that they are not to be used on Lithium batteries which are all the rage with you kids these days. http://www.batterytender.com/Accessories/Digital-Voltage-Indicator-with-LCD-Display.html

  10. There was definitely a disconnect between you & the zx14 Nivin.I think the V-Strom was a good choice for you. You can still go pretty damn fast through the corners on that thing if you want. I would have been sad if you would have gone the cruiser route but I'm happy with your choice.

  15. You have no idea what I have been going thru with my extended son. Poor guy has not slept in days. Even went with him to Pittsburg to look at a bike. Trying to teach him to be patient. A deal will come along. As it did. I must say he got a smoking deal on that bike and it is a 2015. Not a leftover. Cool beans Bubby. I think your gonna keep this one around for awhile.

  34. I'm with chrome and Cdub. I do believe there is a law, and you'll see the signs posted on many of the major freeways that states, "slower traffic keep right". It is not your job to regulate the speed of the fast lane. If traffic behind you is approaching at a higher rate of speed than you are going, simply merge to the clear lane to the right as soon as it is safe and surrender the passing lane to the higher-speed traffic. It's a very simple concept of fewer and fewer people seem to understand these days. That said, he was totally in the wrong for cutting into you and the blame for the accident rest completely on him, but riding in the fast lane at the speed limit when there is a clear lane to the right is a total dick move.

  35. http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4511 - Operation of motor vehicle 4511.25 Lanes of travel upon roadways of sufficient width. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't read law that well. Interpret what you will from that. You are correct about the speed limit for all lanes of traffic. The concept of lanes of traffic is simple. Stay to the right, pass on the left. When people start weaving in an out of traffic because they are impatient, they cause accidnets with innocent motorists.

  36. While I agree that you were keeping up with traffic, the far left lane is not for cruising at highway speed, it's for passing slower traffic. You had a clear lane to your right, and faster traffic behind you. You could have moved to the immediate lane to your right. I wasn't there, so I don't know what was in that lane. I'm making that assumption based on your video. With that said, that dumbass, who was probably pissed you were camping in the left lane, merged into your lane at his front of his rear door on his crew cab. His dumbass fault. He either has really, really bad depth perception, or it was retalitory. He was probably cited for unassured clear distance. Again, his fault not yours. I would imagine, that he expected you to brake when he began to merge. It does not look like you reduced speed or braked until you were clear of his truck at about the the 6.5 second mark of your video. That being said, accidents happen fast, and reaction times vary. I do not fault you for that. It does not look like you sped up either, with malicious intent.

  37. Like the Queen (UK), the Pope is basically another monarch. The last Roman Emperor. More or less harmless. The only annoyance is being preached to on several moral fronts by a guy that can't get his own organization into the gender equality game. I've whined about that before. So, carry on.
