  1. Oh no you didn't. Tonik took care of that so no 102 for me, I have a clean slate. The OP may prove to be a douche but I have to laugh at some of the hypocrisies from people thinking that a different risk behavior is worthy of ridicule. I have rode with several people that have replied in less than legal circumstances. We are just as dangerous to others as the stunters are if not more so. I don't allow stunting on my group rides but I will go out with the stunters on their rides to follow and be entertained. It usually gets boring though and when I do go to watch I'm usually on the scooter because it's so slow. Most of them a very shitty back roads riders.

  4. C'mon guys. Give him a break. This isn't an 800 HP pro-mod fire-breathin' Suzuki he's working on...it's a 305 cc twin producing maybe 30 HP on the high side. That oil should work fine. The issue of using automotive oil comes from the friction-reducing agents in modern oil--it doesn't play well with the wet clutches in a motorcycle, causing slippage. However, those oils contain molybdenum and are always labeled "Energy Saving" on the package, and what you bought isn't one of those. And the caution against using synthetic oil isn't valid, either, as most modern high HP bikes recommend it; however, if you change oil at least every 6 months or 5000 miles, you don't need the pricey stuff. As for your valve check, if all you did was check the clearance and you didn't adjust anything, then you haven't hurt anything. Whatever noise you're hearing was there before you did the work and you're simply hyper-vigilant from concern at this point. When you do make a valve adjustment, you typically want to insert the feeler that results in only a slight drag and not force it. You also must have the cylinder you're checking at top dead center (TDC) so the cam lobes are pointing away from valve bucket. You want the clearance ideally to be in the middle of the range, but looser is always better than too tight, as the valve clearance gets smaller/tighter over time from the valve seats wearing and recessing into the head. It does sound like you want to learn and you'd prolly benefit from finding someone local to you who has some wrenching skills to oversee your work at first. Good luck!

  6. Hey everyone, First time rider here. Bought my bike about a month ago (09,Kawasaki Er6n) and told myself i wouldn't ride it until i finished the MSF course this past weekend. Incredibly excited about finally owning a bike. It has been a work in progress over the last couple years. I look forward to learning anything and everything i can.

  7. Hi all, I was active here several years ago and then kids came along and I sold off my bike. A few weeks ago I bought another, a new 15 Yamaha FZ-09, which is by far my favorite of all the bikes I've ever owned. Looking forward to some rides and bike nights this summer. I also now hold a pilots license and own an airplane so if anyone is ever in the Mansfield / Galion area and wants to see what general aviation is like - or if someone has a bike in a far off place they want to go get let me know and we can fly! Thanks and again I look forward to meeting everyone (some again). Casper: I also need to get some new OR stickers for the FZ. John EDIT: Forgot to add I am still a LEO (let the flaming begin) and I own a UAV (drone) business. We could probably have a lot of fun on some of the rides with the drones: check out our site and FB www.HYSightTech.com and HYSight Technologies on FB

  8. It looks like for the money I cant beat the Diamondback. Would it be worth the money to move up to the Insight 3 for 420 bucks or just stay with the 2?
    1 point
  9. I sure wasted a lot of time at work today doing some research. I did find out that our Company has a PERKS program and Diamond back are 40% off. I can get a Insight 2 for 360 bucks or a Trace Sport for 390.

  11. Brandon was the only good thing about Ohio Motorcycle. Where is he now? State 8 ... for anything? Stay away.

  12. Yea, I work down the street from there. They are great. State 8 is just more convenient from home since I have to drop it. Now I got to ride to Elyria, have the wife follow me. Then same deal to pick it up. Yea, Mike is a freaking wizard. I am going to Kennedy's, dunno wtf I was thinking.

  13. Go see Mike at Kennedy's, he is easily the most qualified factory mechanic in the area. Don't go there on a Wednesday though he doesn't work that day.

  15. NO no no. The first number is the oil viscosity when its cold its "W" weight or "winter" weight. It's is not the temperature. So a 10W30 will have a 10 weight oil viscosity when cold and a 30 weight oil viscosity at operating temperature (or hot) There is a trick here; the oil doesn't actually get thicker (turn from 10 weight to 30 weight) as it gets hotter. What is actually happening is that when the oil is cold, it has the viscosity of a cold 10 weight oil. as it gets hotter, it doesn't get thin as fast as a 10W oil would; by the time it is up to temperature, it has the viscosity of a hot 30 weight oil.

  16. Go to All Seasons Sports Center in Wooster. They have old timers and are very good. This is the only place in NEO I would trust for proper work. Tell Shawn Caylor that ZRX Brian sent you...he will treat you good.

  18. Thank you for the help! I did adjust them and believe I made them too tight so now that I have some clarification I will go back and adjust them properly. I was able to get a photo from another KZ305 owner and he showed me where to align the TDK since the service manual is a bit off as it doesnt show a photo from our exact bike. I am going to use the oil I bought to run it through once the valves are done and see how it acts, that way its lubricated properly and when everything is in order, by my hand or another, I will put motorcycle specific oil in.

  24. Oil selection seems to be highly disputed online when it comes to motorcycles. So I have to ask because my only concern is not damaging it. I don't need it to win a race. This is only my second motorcycle. My first one is a 2016. So everything I see or do on this bike is new to me. So I have to ask those who know better, and the most available ones are on this forum. I would take it into Mike at Mike's bikes if he was not a month out from winter build up.

  27. I'm not commenting anymore and I think others might feel the same way. If you can't comprehend simple things like oil change and oil selection you have no buisness turning wrenches on any motorized vehicle.

  29. The day i stopped by after you guys rode it did you notice it making this sound?. I know we disused how rich it smelled and how crappy it ran. I think a little background info might be insightful for people trying to chime in. Lets start with what i somewhat know about it. It sat for several years with less than 30.000 miles on the motor. When you got it home how many miles did you put on it and did you change the oil or still running on whats in when you got it? That noise i would agree doesnt sound like valves i can also hear them clicking. And the basket noise i mean yeah it could be i also had a 85 fz 600 that did the same thing but yours sounds like a deep tone knock. I hope that the worse hasnt happen as in the main jet stuck dumped fuel in the cylinder and has washed down the oil and now you have a bottom end knock. But that is a worse case sanarao. But yeah lett someone a little more savy than you and myself check it out before you need a new old bike

  38. "I'm not a stunter but I do whoolies on public streets to impress kids and drunks outside bars. This is totally ok in my opinion and I'm not a stunter, I just do stunts" Yeah buddy, and Andy dick isn't gay, he just sucks a lot of cock. Gonna make a mental note not to be anywhere near you on a group ride, you haven't matured past a certain point yet and I don't truck with that nonsense.

  40. lol...I know it's predictable ive been around here for a little bit I don't post but I look around and I see it. I'm not even a stunter in any way shape or form. But above is right, nothing here is going to change my mind because I'm no fool. It's funny I can get blazed on here for supporting public stunts yet in the real world it doesn't happen. For example I attach my helmet to my bag when I'm on campus and On my helmet people can see I support it and I've not once been ridiculed for it, AND its not just the "college crowd" same thing for both of my jobs, they know I do it and I've never been put down for it. in fact I only get positive reactions. On the streets like I said I pull it up I get positive reactions. Simple truth. I might get hurt one day, I might die who knows, My faith is in God in that matter but judge all you want, I'm not a douchebag about what I do, you can think otherwise all you want I just don't care and the reason I don't care isn't because I'm a douche, it's because based on my experience I know that people like seeing them and the reaction on here is NOT the reaction out there... Again as a final statement, stunting can be done in a dangerous and asshole like manner, I acknowledge that. My point was, it can also be done (on public roads) in a non-asshole manner. I want to make sure that's clear. Peace

  42. no stunting isn't being a douchebag... it takes skill and practice just like any other skill... stunting on public roads... like drag racing on public roads ... like racing around public roads is a douchebag move... you are taking people who don't wish to participate. and make them into potential hazards... don't act like you or any other stunter with years of practice hasn't ever messed up... shit the pros mess up... same with drag racers and motogp racers... but when your on a public road and mess up.. you can muck up someone elses life.. not just your own... do I like seeing stunts heck yeah.. when on private property or properly sanctioned where every single person around knows whats going on and the risk involved... just like I love going to races! but take it to the city streets and your 100% unequivocally a douchebag with no regard for the ones that have no choice in your mistakes

  43. I do stoppies all the time I'm the grom. Never been hassled. Did do a huge one last week next to a Harley getting off the highway, I got the rear damn high and he was laughing thinking I was going to bite it, then he turned around to look at his gearless wife, lost his balance and fell over.

  44. I saw an old thread of something like this and figured it would be fun to restart it. Simply post a picture of your bike in front of a challenged location or item and then set a new challenge for the rest of us. I'll start us off. Your bike next to a sports car. The sportier the better[emoji2]

  45. I'm all about open source software but I wouldn't do that to a non techie. It's too much of a pain in the ass to find compatible software to do simple stuff. That being said I have a Kali 2.0 laptop and a couple of Linux VMs in use so I'm not a complete penguin hater.
