  2. Please join me at Quaker Steak and Lube bike night June 8th for the kick off of bike nights! I am receiving the Saved By The Helmet Award from motorcycle Ohio at 7 o'clock. It would be great for me to meet as many of you as possible, especially those of you that donated enough money for me to continue therapy needed for me to get out of a wheelchair!! This is big for me and I am so nervous and excited at the same time

  3. Fuck it. I'm going to go take my fat ass for a walk in between showers and make motorcycle noises for the duration to keep myself entertained.

  4. The thing about 555 is that it is damn hard, technical and up and down. You have to muster all the skill you got and all your focus to ride it well. That is the attraction.

  5. Jim, Sorry the weather is not going to be dry for your ride but I will be out on the back roads power sliding the wet gravel with no dust lofting the front wheel over the water puddles and catching air on the chip & seal back roads thinking about you. I hope someday you get an adv bike to expand the enjoyment of our sport. We are not getting younger. Stay dry my friend. Hope to ride the zzzzz's with you soon. B.

  6. I bet they feel the same way about that as I do about push-up bras. False advertisement.

  7. Looks like I may have a window tomorrow between 1p and 6p to make it to Galax without it raining the entire way.

  8. So....the single-speed is pretty much the coolest thing evar. Faster than I thought. Wow! I did find myself fingering shifters that weren't there. It's whisper quiet and man does it go, go, go! The tires weren't as big a hindrance as I anticipated. The freewheel is a bit noisy under heavy pressure. Toe overlap is a real big PITA, but I'll adapt. I put in ~25 miles and was not going slow. My legs are aware that there is a new sherrif in town. What a great after-work ride. The on-tap Chillwave and oven-fired pizza sure didn't hurt.

  12. I agree with that. Most of the other complaints can be said about nearly every good road in SEO.I always thought blind corners and hill tops were just part of the attraction of riding in SEO.I'm sitting here running through all of the good roads down here and I can't think of one that doesn't have blind corners.I don't really care about how well they're marked,I quit relying on suggested speeds a long time ago.I can think of roads where relying on those signs can get you in trouble. As for gravel and debris in the road, again, you can have that every where down here. These are rural roads used by farmers, hunters, oil workers, loggers, off road riders and pot growers, just to name a few...dirt will get tracked on the road.Driveways?I don't know if 555 has anymore than most roads. As for the road condition of 555 from Zanesville to Chesterhill...I just rode this Sunday. As I said in another post the Muskingum county section was paved last fall. The section that is shared with 669 was paved about three years ago.Portersville to Ringgold is older, but still pretty good.South of Ringgold is the same as it ever was.So the northern part of 555 is about as good as it will ever be. I like the northern section of 555 from Zanesville to Ringgold, but then again I ride it at least weekly.I know what to expect and what to look out for. From Cannelville road to Ringgold would probably be in my top 10 SEO roads.I like tight tricky roads, high speed sweepers are fun,but I prefer the tricky stuff. To each his own. I wish more people thought like you guys,I could have 555 from Zanesville to Ringgold all to my self.

  13. Don't let these guys scare you off. Here's some insight on how this group ride pace thing works. Nobody should be concerned much with what the lead rider or any other riders pace is because the group will be waiting at every turnoff for the last rider to show up before proceeding. These are not Isle of Man style/ Mach retard rides so straightaway speeds will be limited to the point where little or no braking should be required at corner entrys. If you attend this ride all that I ask is that you "ride your own ride". This means that you must be able to recognize when your corner speed starts to feel uncomfortable & back it off a bit when that happens. A good sign that you are uncomfortable is when your arms & shoulders start to tense up. When you slow down, the rider in front of you may disappear into the distance but that's OK! We all would rather wait a little bit for you at the next turnoff than see you injured or dead & your bike smashed up. That being said, if you are not totally comfortable with going 70 in the straights & passing safely in double yellow zones you should probably opt out of this ride so the rest of us can get home at a reasonable time. Thanks for reading. Hope I wasn't too preachy.
