  2. This hoopla about not posting rides on a piblic forum is nonsense. Yea I get it people have gotten tickets on rides. But I find it hard to believe cops have nothing better to do than peruse motorcycle forums to set up speed traps. Been posting rides and routes on this website and a few others for the last 5 or 6 years and never has it became a problem. Delusional paranoia in my opinion.

  3. Check out my new cornhole boards, I just finished them. I have always wanted my own set to practice on, especially when I get my ass handed to me at summer parties, but I didn't want to spend the time building them completely from scratch. This project is a culmination of a few different sources. The boards are Amish made and the top is one large vinyl printout of my design I had printed at a graphics shop. A few more things I added include three coats of UV rated poly, painting the underside to prevent moisture absorption, installed cabinet hardware to latch the legs in place when moving the boards, and I added handles to each board for easy carrying. Going to try and toss a few this weekend to see how they do!

  7. I have severe bike ADD, just without the hyperactivity. I research and imagine riding/owning bikes by the dozen when I'm in the market, but I resist the urge to buy until I'm certain it's what I want.....sort of like @Bad324 but with an actual bike purchase at the end of the story.

  24. I've been trying to make it over for one of these from Springfield all season and finally made it happen! Cool to see another Aprilia rider there 0hi0. Lots of beautiful bikes, bumped into a couple old friends. Best bike night I've been to in a LONG time!

  25. Weather turned out perfect, if anything it was a little too hot. Tons of open track. I was a bit concerned with the combining of intermediate and advanced group; however, the weekday turnout was light enough so that it wasn't an issue. A sold out day would be a different story, IMHO. Got to test out a hypermotard and Jeff's SV. The hyper was comfortable and great fun, I was getting in a full tuck with left hand off the bars on the straights. Throw some bags on it and I could see it being a great touring bike with the ability to wick it up a little in the twisties. The SV was just a blast, the top speed isn't there like my 600 or 750, but I was immediately comfortable on it and started to pick it up in the turns to maintain momentum.

  28. Hunting for idle is a classic symptom of lean condition. Not sure exactly how your bike is set up, but if it uses a closed loop system with an o2 sensor it's probably sensing that your exhaust is crazy lean and dumping lots of fuel (or at least as much as it can trim, usually 20%) into the bike which helps but doesn't help enough to read stoichiometric at the o2 sensor. I'm no efi wizard tho, more of a carburetor guy. Problem is, a guy with more engineering degrees on his wall than you designed the exhaust for that bike, but you decided you knew better than him. Put a good stock exhaust on it and all will be right, or spend a few grand on a full system and a fuel controller and a day of dyno tuning and enjoy the gains.

  33. Tire pressure threads are a whole lot like "What oil should I use?" threads--everyone has an opinion. One thing that NEVER seems to get mentioned is that motorcycle tire pressure 1) isn't some fixed-in-stone number that you should set-n-forget and never change, and 2) is WAY more important to check and adjust on a bike than on a car. The sidewall pressure number isn't any sort of recommendation from the tire manufacturer--it's the MAXIMUM cold pressure that should never be exceeded for inflation, not what you should set your pressure to. Your owner's manual and the sticker on the swing arm/frame should have the recommended tire pressures listed for your bike, but this is applies to the OEM tires only, and thus could change if you switch to non-OEM tires. Air/road surface temperatures also affect how much pressure you should run, so obviously it's a good idea to check your pressures before each ride. As a general rule, you should start with your pressures set to the recommended level and then experiment around that. Hotter temps, higher speeds, and heavier loads typically mean increasing pressures anywhere from 2-5 psi (up to the max sidewall number). So, two-up riding, loaded touring, extended x-way miles mean bumping up your pressures. Cooler temps (i.e., winter riding), especially when doing spirited riding in the twisties, means lowering your pressures 1-5 psi for better traction, although this is not necessarily true if you're simply doing easy cruising. Also, realize that lower pressures mean softer tire sidewalls, which results in more flex and means they heat up more quickly and this typically results in shorter tire life. Different styles of tires are affected more or less by pressure changes, too. A high-performance road tire will have a more responsive tread and sidewall construction (for max traction) and respond to small pressure changes dramatically. Pure race tires don't work well on the street because the rubber compound needs to be "hot" for max traction (thus, tire warmers you see at the track) and typical street speeds don't generate sufficient heat in the tread to maintain max performance. Tires designed for heavy cruisers, touring bikes and ADV bikes usually have a much more stout sidewall construction to support the weight and harder tread compounds for longer tire life, and so tire pressures don't affect the performance as much.

  36. That was great! I've closely followed the Cavs since the Price/Daugherty/Harper teams from the 80s & 90s. They beat the best regular season team of all time on the road in a game 7. It had to be that way to break the drought.
