  2. For what it's worth, the new Motorcycle Ohio Rider's Guide (for the class that is replacing the MSF courses in Ohio) specifically mentions earplugs as a piece of safety equipment and then encourages you to check the law. Even if you were ticketed for it, the $50 or so fine is worth being able to hear clearly in 30 years, IMHO.

  4. Okay, getting a little pressure from the wife since I bought a new motorcycle before selling this one...will sweeten the deal one final time before it goes on eBay/Craigslist, etc. The OR non-negotiating price of $3K (and possibly two kisses) Would love to sell it on here for the ease of transaction, but if no interest, will have to list it elsewhere. DPG.

  5. Went to the gym to swim some laps after work and as I got into the pool I realized my phone was still in my pocket. FML My wife is out of town for nearly another week so have no phone at all to use, period. Only a corded phone for emergencies (911 only). I don't know if this thing is going to work now or not...I have to wait at least a day to see (don't tell me to put it in rice, it's no better than leaving it sit on the counter per studies). It figures...I have shit going on at work and need to lead a conference call at 8am and likely more calls later in the day. I don't want to drive all the way to KY and spend the day at the office if I can help it. The worst part is, I was planning on getting the new iPhone when it comes out in 3 weeks or so. So I was thinking about getting a burner phone in the meantime so I can at least do my work stuff. Any suggestions on a temp phone like from Walmart or something? I need a drink

  7. Shame on both major parties. Americans are dying to protect people of other nations (that may or may not appreciate our sacrifices). We are being enslaved with debt by both major parties. Choosing between the Republicans and the Democratic Socialists is a lose/lose proposition. I vote on principal, not to be symbolic. Let Johnson debate the two clowns, and we can see what happens.

  9. I got pulled over the day I bought my first Camaro for no front plate and it had my other cars plate on the back. Because I was able to show him the signed over title dated for that day he said it was no problem. I asked him if doing that was better than not having a plate at all and he basically said not having a plate at all will assuredly get you pulled over. Using another cars plates is frowned upon but because I had the title with me he said you'll get let go 9/10 times

  11. Companies will continue to move offshore and do their inversions to whatever country is offering the best deal, but realize it's a race to the bottom where the only winners are the corporations. And no, I'm not saying "raise the minimum wage" -- I'm saying my tax dollars should not be subsidizing corporate profits. That's socialism. If that means Walmart or McDonalds needs to pay their full time workforce more to get off the gov't dole, then so be it. Currently, it's a redistribution of wealth, except to the already rich -- which apparently people seem to be way more OK with than someone much closer to their own income bracket. Because psychology. http://www.albany.edu/~gs149266/Solnick %26 Hemenway (1998) - Positional concerns.pdf

  12. I've chased and been chased by that Z for many of those 21k miles. An easy way to pick it up is to get a one way rental car (Avis) and ride it home. I've bought many bikes that way.

  15. Yeah, that ride swap is what got me to look toward the MTS in the first place. Both great motorcycles in different ways...think I was ready for something different and missed the big twins!

  16. I consider it a courtesy. I've had cops thank me for stopping before and then not ticket me. Crown Vic interceptors are fast but no match for a sport bike and they know it.

  19. This mentality is what this thread was was originally about. Who believes the twisted statement and supports this idea. The word "take" sticks out. Should be re-worded. Wal-mart takes legal tax deductions. They're too profitable and successful. Lets find a way to take their money and give it to people.

  20. Just do it seriously, you need to do this... very logical and easy transition, get out of your couch then get on the other couch ride down south to meet dave who i am sure will allow you to take a spin on this bike and then pay him the money, give him a kiss even for this good deal and buy this thing. By the time you are back in up north and dont like it sell it for 1K more and then go back and kiss dave again.

  22. Yea it doesn't look that bad, something similar happened to me on the front aluminum differential on my Tahoe. I sealed it with Anaerobic gasket maker and it's never leaked a drop. Like IP said take another pic to show depth.

  25. I just moved from that area. I have some maps left over I will post here. Watch for gravel, residual clutter is usually there for at least a week after a rain. On top of that the local drivers dont seem to grasp the concept of motor vehicle operation and cut every corner throwing debri on the road. When it is clear the area is amazing for riding. If you have more time and are already down that far, pop back over towards ashland after you hit 141, 775, 217, 218, 790 (my favorite road on ohio by far) and take KY1S across 64 to sandy hook. There you fill find one of the best kept motorcycle secrets of the Appalachian area. KY32. Take 3 N from there and hit the stuff in Lawrence and Gallia counties again. Grab some hillbilly hot dogs while you are in Huntington.

  27. Thanks all. I ran out to Wallyworld and got a prepaid Samsung S4 for a temp phone...at least I can use it for a month or whenever I can get my hands on the iPhone 7 and then sell it. I forgot to mention, I'm also awaiting a call from my wife who is in Hawaii with my son and his wife who is being induced for labor today. So at some point, I'm gonna be grandpa. At least until I get this up and running, she can text me on my iPad. Before anyone gets any ideas ( @2talltim & @Tonik) about me falling in love and switching to Android...ain't happening. I had an Android tablet for a while and I thought it was meh and I'm already heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem (for better or worse) with the watch, iPad Pro, MacBook, Apple TV, etc. Although I did finally break down and get a MS Surface Pro 4 so I had a mobile Windows platform. Macs and programming .NET/C# is no bueno.

  28. Called Mike at Riders Discount the other day to see about some parts for my recently purchased dirty bike ('12 Honda CRF450R). Needless to say it's always cool to talk to Mike and or course the prices were excellent. Shipping is always fast to us OH folks as it arrived today, in just 2 days. Thanks Mike and RD for the service, prices and parts! Kevin

  29. And now a serious answer. My point is there are a couple of thousand kids right outside my office door that are getting no help and have no chance. They don't have parents or brothers that can point them in the right direction. Your sister had a chance, she had a smart helper. She made her choice, she is on her own. I am betting your parents raised you right, and instilled the drive in you that got you through school and on the road to being cool. My primary point in this entire thread is there is a huge number of kids that have no one like that in their life. They are kids, they have NFI what to do.

  31. They are doing it under the guise of easing the burden on the poor and that's how they sell it. Socialist regimes are no different and than any other. The rules don't apply to those in charge and they do as they see fit. There are a lot of people that really need help who are trying to help themselves. I get that and I'm all for helping. But a growing number are "poor" because they are lazy and are gaming the system, are drug addicts, continually make bad life decisions (i.e. popping out kids like Pez), or just do enough to get by but expect more. I went to school, I actually paid for it myself by working while I was in school. My parents were literally dirt poor growing up and I didn't have much as a kid. I busted my ass working 40-60 hours a week and was (mostly) responsible my money and decisions. My wife sacrificed even more (including her first marriage) to build a small business into a success. So fuck you to the lazy bastards described above who want a slice of my pie because they feel it's unfair that I have x and they don't. My sister is an example...wasted her life, does nothing, has nothing and has no intention at all of doing anything about it. At one time I tried to help her but all she did was take and lie to me and not do a damn thing so I no longer help her or even have a meaningful relationship with her. I refuse to help those that aren't willing to help themselves...I don't care who they are. It just enables them and gives them no incentive to change. yeah I'm bitter

  32. There's another reason I think the rich should be taxed harder...they don't fight our wars. The poor and workng class fight the wars that protect the rich folks assets.Until the rich start serving and filling some body bags they should pay more for the protection of our country. They want to talk about sacrifice...I'll start listening when they bury their kids like over 6000 poor and working class families have done since 9/11.

  35. The Walton family...a great example of the hard working successful billionaire class.Their greatest achievement in life was being a successful man's sperm.Kind of like the last three republican presidential nominees. At least Obama worked and became successful by his own achievements,it wasn't handed to him at birth.
