  1. When it comes to education you can talk numbers until the cows come home. We're missing the root cause again which is bad parenting.

  3. Wayne trail is getting worn as the end of the season approaches. Monday was a great day to be hustling a 500lb beast thru the woods with 77deg temps and no traffic. Lots of stone and 1" gravel mixed in with deep two track ruts. some areas had water and mud to keep thing interesting. It's all good training and fun.

  7. Charter School funding is a can of worms. When a child transfers to a charter school the State portion of the funding follows the child. Plus about 5K of the local funding. Which is odd, when I vote for a levy for the Parma Schools I am voting for a levy for the Parma Schools, not some unknown Charter School. Also, the public school district despite just loosing 8 or 10 grand when the child moved still has to bus the child from their home to the charter school. As for the failure of public education, if your suggestion is that charter schools are the answer you are mistaken. They are considerably worse in almost every category. Don't confuse Charter Schools with Private Schools. Two very different animals.

  8. Yea,that is hard to say. But I think it is a big part of the solution. It has to be an all of the above I think. More education dollars, and when I say that I mean more education dollars for counseling, social work, tutoring and life coaches. As someone in a school it bugs me that we are being left to do this, but with the right resources we are the best choice. There is a private org here that is run by a teacher that quit to do just this....they have targeted about a dozen kids. And those kids are doing much better so far. Yes, more aggressively taking these kids out of these environments. If they are being raised by someone busted for crack or heroin or crap like that, just take them. If we grab them at 4 or 5 and put a couple in @whaler 's house I have no doubt they will do as well as his kids are. That's gonna be expensive to do. And somehow, we have to create inner city jobs. Poverty is a huge part of this issue. I have NFI how to do that.

  9. No,we don't give up on the kids but you're only going to say a very small percentage through education alone.I don't even like saying this, but we have to get them out of the destructive environment they are living in.Possibly away from their parents.Like I said,I don't even like saying this, but until they're away from the cause, how can you save them?

  10. Certainly won't deny we have over spent in the Middle East militarily and socially. That money needs to stay home, but increasing and doubling down on failed social programs is certainly not the answer. We keep paying more and more to social problems and the social problems keep getting bigger and deeper. We are to a point now where illegal immigrants take welfare and also work illegally under the table and never pay into a system that is breaking the country. This takes jobs from legal welfare recipients and the system just keeps spiraling out of control. We have thrown tons of money at education and it changes nothing. Akron city schools is at 20k+ per student per year compared to the 8k per student per year for the local school my kids attend and Akron test scores, graduation rate, and college rate keeps dropping. This goes for all urban school districts. The whole welfare and education system as designed is not working and no amount of money will fix it. You are ignorant or lying to yourselves if you think more social money will change anything other than a votes.

  14. Sunday it was all fresh and no edge lines still, with no further work beyond 93 & 13. I think 669 east of here (the best stretch) is much safer eastbound, just have to watch your speed over the crests of hills as they have apexes of curves at the crests of several blind rise hills. I hit one too fast once and lifted the weight from front tire off the pavement a bit too much at the combo crest/apex on one eastbound left hander and got a nice reality check. Static sag is very critical to your suspension! I added a little more by backing off the preload slightly on the forks after that. I thought I had it set up great, but opted for more sag for those just in case moments when the road drops out from under you a lot Westbound once you get out of the forested section off of the river (where it has all of the oddly twisted/banked/off camber turns), I feel as if you get the more tricky end of the blind rises from the forested section and on westbound beyond where the merged 555 splits off south. I seldom hit it this direction, but the big blind rise hills seem to typically have more curving to the road immediately after the crest of the hill. No mishaps that I know of, but it gives me a very cautious feeling when I hot it this way. Best road in that immediate vicinity by far, just proceed overy the blind rises with caution.

  15. "Going off your avatar, you're an obvious homophobe. You fit the hater mold to a T." This is totally awesome. I have finally achieved the same level of infamy as Tonik among the OR cognoscenti. @Tonik Better watch it or I'll steal that "Dome of Hate" and bring to SW Ohio.

  16. And if you peeps think our tax and spending issues are because of the cost of welfare, social programs and the like you are on crack. Those numbers are a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of the spending we do.

  24. @Bad324 If you're serious about buying a bike, Brian Mullins (Kanatuna on AFJ) just posted an ad here in Cinti on the CCR FB page for a '98 Superhawk with OH title for $2100. Not a creampuff, but prolly a good deal. And since this thread isn't a For Sale thread, I don't consider this shitting in someone's FS advert...IJS.

  25. He skipped contact info, year and miles. But gave us enough info if you use his profile to find the ad on CL. If that was his plan I applaud his genius. And no harm done.
    1 point
  26. Well he is missing contact info. I take the rant to be an ad itself though. I will say an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. NADA can say all day what it's worth but that dosent pay any bills. In the end a 600cc bandit isn't a highly desirable bike.

  28. On first look, I thought that was the 1200cc version,. That's a sharp bike...in spring time, buyers will be tripping over themselves to get it. Also, you might consider putting an ad on the Advrider site...it gets a lot of traffic and likely less dealing with people who want to trade a goat and a pool table.

  29. Oh yea , and that's a clever way of sneaking in a FS ad on you first post.

  30. That's all the places he trailered his bike. It's a biker thing, some peeps make a map like that.

  31. Shit, he mentioned the general ride area. And even worst he mentioned the meet point by city name. All theLEO's have to do is put the chopter up over the east side and watch for the huge group of sport bikers. I suggest you change the city meet point to 'East Astana'. That is the capital of Kazakhstan, and change the general route area to 'South East Kazakhstan (Mohammed's Country)' HTH
