  1. Hi. My name's Mark from Columbus. I ride what was once a brand new, unmolested '01 Bandit 1200. Until day 2 of ownership - then the modifications began. Every time I think I need a new bike, I just mod something to make the old Bandit a bit different. In the 16 years and 50k miles I've had it (it's an "it", not a "her"), nobody has put a wrench to it except me. I really don't enjoy touring and avoid the superslabs at all costs. I have a trip planned to the NC, TN, GA, SC mountains in Sept for the 4th year in a row. Yes, I trailer down & back but ride all day when I'm down there. Last year we rode over 1000 mi of twistys in 3 days - 425 mi on one day almost never in top gear. I found you guys from a link at the Mid-Ohio trackday page and I've been thinking of doing a trackday but not sure I want to invest in the required gear. Modding the bike, I have no problems with! I've ben a member on a couple of Bandit forums (fora?) for years and photos are "strongly encouraged" there so here's one from the parking lot at work last week. Seems like a good bunch of folks here and I look forward to hanging out.

  3. What I *REALLY* hate about the drug problems is the fact that some junkie can go out there, shoot up and OD, call the paramedics, get dosed with Narcan and be brought back to go shoot up some more, and it doesn't cost them. And no, it doesn't cost them, because do you think a junkie is gonna pay their medical bills? HELL no. My ex and I have to keep an EpiPen for our son who has a peanut allergy on hand for most everywhere we go. Thankfully, he's at the lower end of the spectrum of the allergy, but with us being "responsible" adults with jobs and insurance have to fork out a RIDICULOUS amount of money for this as a preventative measure. And we have to buy 2, because our school system here requires us to provide the school with one for him and then we carry one with us.

  4. The BMW is a lot lighter and frankly I miss an I4 engine...it's a fast bike but comfy. I just dig them. I'd love a Multistrada but I think the BMW will be more reliable. The FJ-09 would be perfect if it came with grip warmers and cruise control (why oh why doesn't have cruise control????). I can add those on but by the time I do that and looking at the differences in component quality (brakes, suspension, etc) the BMW isn't all that more expensive for a lightly used one for ~$14k - $15k.

  5. Wife and I are booking one of the little willows cabin....so if the group stays in the same block as last year, we'll only have to walk half as far as last year....meaning I should only fall down half as much as last year :D

  7. It's very simple actually...seems like a lot but the hardest part is pulling the carb and compared to a lot of bikes, it's a piece of cake. If you are unsure, take pictures before you do anything and pics and you take things apart. That way you can see how it was before you mucked with it.

  8. Increasingly closer braking & turn in markers would work I think.

  10. They are not gone, Hayden has them and the controller on his bench. You are corrupting children and should be ashamed of your self. Like I said... the gixxer force is strong.

  12. After the USD fork swap I wanted something to protect the sliders from road debris. The forks are from a 1st gen Hayabusa and I couldn't imagine THAT FENDER on my Bandit. I researched and taught myself how to bend and form acrylic sheet one cold winter weekend and that's the result. I haven't given up on the idea of a front fender but it hasn't yet floated to the top of the mod list.

  16. You have an office job, right? There has got to be a chair out there that is designed like a sport bike saddle. If not, it seems there are plenty of crafty guys on this forum that could design one for you. Maybe even possibly make one for you.

  17. This was even before that. But yea definitely wont fly now. I'll learn to live with not being able to concentrate for shit. If only I could focus like I can when I swing my leg over a motorbike.

  23. Maybe we should hold the doctors responsible for all the people who get addicted to prescription pain killers and turn to heroine for their fix. The deeper you look into the current heroine epidemic the more you realize that it's a symptom of legal drugs that have been over prescribed.

  30. I agree there are millenials than boomers, but I would also say there is a less percentage of them paying into the system vs what boomers did. Think of all the sub-30 aged people born into and living off the system with their 4 kids. That is what will suck us dry, not people living longer.
