  1. Wife and I are booking one of the little willows cabin....so if the group stays in the same block as last year, we'll only have to walk half as far as last year....meaning I should only fall down half as much as last year :D

  2. Use TuneECU for your Triumph if you still have the Street Triple in your profile. NEVER use it on a 2013+, it'll brick your ECU. Works great on pre-13 though. It's free, and a $10 cable gets you going. Awesome for maintenance, reading/clearing codes, resetting the adaptation like you mentioned, etc. And if you ever plan on getting the bike tuned, head on over to JD at HordPower. He's about an hour and a half from you and one of the best Triumph tuners in the area. I'm actually taking my race bike there Saturday to get it tuned. His prices are super reasonable. Last time I was there it cost me $100 for the tune. Best money I ever spent on the bike for anything performance related. I put a full Arrow exhaust on, and picked up 13hp with the custom tune vs. running the generic Triumph/Arrow tune.

  11. I'm sure there are some columbus peeps that could lend a hand. Lots of very knowledgeable folks on here in that area. I'd recommend NOT taking it to a shop or paying someone to do it for you. Not that the shop/person won't do it right but if you are able to do it yourself or with some assistance you'll learn more about the bike and have the confidence to work on it yourself even if it's just pulling the carb to clean it. Plus, that knowledge will translate to other thumpers. You never know when you'll be in the woods and something stops working and it certainly helps to have a clue as to where to start troubleshooting. Speaking of, the CDI's on these are known to go out over time. If you are every out and it just quits (and you aren't out of gas, etc). Trying tapping on the CDI box (located near the battery). This usually gets it working again at least until you can reach civilization. A bunch of us on ADV did a group buy of a programmable CDI from Czechoslovakia that is not only more dependable but can be programmed to alter the ignition curve and improve performance. Also, check youtube for videos on how to do various things like valve check/adjustment which is ridiculously easy on this bike. When I had my DRZ, anything I wanted to do with the bike there was a how to video online. I tore that bike down, replaced the front and rear springs, re-jetted, re-greased the swingarm bolt...you name it. I'm not a mechanic by nature (more of a computer guy) but I didn't really have much difficulty save for stubborn bolts/nuts. Doing all that really helped me with other bikes I've had since including the XRL.

  14. One thing to help with corner entry is to ensure you aren't starting at a turn in point right up until you turn. Once you see your point start looking at the apex. This will help eliminate that feeling of going to fast.

  15. OK maggots, listen up. I've chosen a menu for the event. Feedback will be ignored. Dissent will be scoffed at. You'll stuff your man-pleasers and shut up. Gonna smoke 2 Boston butts the night before and have pulled pork in a crock pot day of. Will also be soaking fresh brats in beer day before and either smoking or grilling them day of. Likely also to have a crock pot of Ducati © brand pasta for the hipsters. Why? Well, the last few years I've had to abscond to the more or less unpopulated area of the patio to run the BBQ grill 3 or 4 times during the event. Being a lazy bastard, this didn't appeal to me. So if you want burgers or dogs, bring them and you can use the grill. Once the brats are done, I'm done. I will be accepting applicants for the r&d phase of pork and brat seasoning and method selection to commence some time in March.

  16. These are just my opinions. Seemed to work for me. I don't know your skill level and you got cut off at the bottom. If you are at a track day, try braking sooner with more control and better judge your entry speed. Try to get better at going fast through the turn before you worry about braking hard into it. Are you using brake markers? Find a marker and start braking at it consistently. If you are too slow into the turn, find a new marker a few feet later. Repeat as needed until you are turning in while still lightly braking. Again, take with a grain of salt.

  17. I messed with the jetting quite a bit and couldn't get it quite right. Then a guy on the AdvRider forum told me to get the dynojet kit because the stock needle is crap. Basically he told me get the kit, drill out the vaacum holes (as per the Dave's mods), swap the spring for the DJ one, put a 65 pilot and the DJ165 main jet and you should be good to go. This assumes you de-smog and are using the Uni filter for better air flow. I'm also using an FMF Slip on. It runs awesome now.

  18. I did a custom sv650 lexan led plate frame tail that took entirely too long but with other mods wanted bright low profile illumination for less police attraction before i blacked out the sides I put a 2005 r6 fender on 02 axial brake gsxr750 forks that hugged a lot closer than the std and was a fairly easy mount aside from needing the speedo sensor integrated.

  20. This System is a must have for old fat has been's that get stuck alone in the wilderness. Motorcycle Recovery System (MRS)? The MRS is a z-drag rope-and-pulley system originally developed for mountaineering and rescue teams. That system was modified for motorcycle recovery operations. Recovery refers to the process of getting the bike back on the road or trail after taking an unexpected detour, or the process of getting the bike out of a bog or a sandpit. https://bestrestproducts.com/shop/recovery-gear-mrs-system/motorcycle-recovery-system-mrs/
