I know many who love T6, tried it in several bikes and just never could get over how notchy the transmission become over the first thousand miles. We are getting to a point where only motorcycle specific oils come without molly.3 points

Kids, repeat after me....just say no to molly. https://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/mdma-ecstasymolly2 points

I'm back... with an official up-to-date list of which oils are JASO. March 2017 release. http://www.jalos.or.jp/onfile/pdf/4T_EV_LIST.pdf Don't forget that certifications are expensive, and not all oils do that. Some might simply says "meets the requirements". Which may or may not be true. And they won't be on this list. Also: JASO MA1 is for 4 stroke engine, wet sump, wet clutch, combined transmission. JASO MA2 is same, except better for catalytic convertors. JASO MA is oil that meets part of MA1 and/or MA2, so gets just "MA" (or is dawn of time old). And yes, Shell Rottela T6 is "crunchy/notchy" in the transmission quickly. It's not for me. The short story... stick to the manufacturer's recommendation and their brand of oil. Second best, Repsol. Anything else, you're on your own; like me using Mobil 1 4T or Castrol stuff.2 points

So several oil companies have changed their formulations right around the end of last year, Rotella T6 is one of them. They added molly to it, which as we all know is 'bad' on a wet clutch. So check your favorite oil to be sure.1 point

Oh boy. Oil discussion. I'm with whaler on his feelings on t6. My Wing hates it. Clunky shifts after a thousand miles or so. I gave it a couple chances/changes and gave up. The Super Hawk is about the same but also drinks a little. As far as moly in mc oil Honda actually has one. It is not recommended for higher horsepower engines. Diesel oil is going to suffer just as auto oil has. They have taken some of the good stuff out of auto oil so as not to foul catalytic converters. So goes it for diesel oil. The one box on a Detroit diesel cost about 8k without all the sensors and particulate filters. Maintaining the pollution controls is becoming a major expense. So the oil manufacturers not only have to deal with proper lubrication properties but also not fouling up the pollution control system. It has become a whole new ball game. We still run engines over a million miles with only being opened up for valve adjustments. But when they go it is usually the bottom end that fails. With that said. Will diesel oil continue to be okay for use in motorcycles? Time will tell. The Achilles heel is the wet clutch and the transmission gears chopping the heck out of the strands the make up viscosity. If you truly want to know what is going on with your choice of oil. Get oil samples taken or go to Bobstheoilguy and go totally insane reading that stuff. Oil----None of is worth a shit if you don't change it.1 point

Sounds like maybe somebody on the other website accidentally put the multi vehicle version in thier bike I believe it does contain Moly additives.1 point

That is the new multi vehicle version it is not made for wet clutches. Here is the one that is... http://rotella.shell.com/products/t6-full-synthetic.html1 point

OK just call Shell and talked to a lubricant tech guru and he informed me that the new formulation for the Rotella T6 will still be JASO MA1 or MA2 standard. And I ask about the PPM of moly that might be in it and he looked it up and said there is Zero in it. And shell recommends T6 for any wet clutch applications. And the new multi vehicle IS NOT made for wet clutches. If you want to hear it from the horses mouth here is the number to call. The guy said they are getting calls about this daily. OK doing a little research it looks like they just added one to their product line called "Rotella T6 multi vehicle" and still carry the regular "Rotella T6". The multi vehicle does not have the JASO MA1 or MA2 standards but the the old T6 looks like it still does. That was a quick search still need to look deeper into it.1 point

Much appreciated sir. One thing I do is load a mag and mix in snap caps...have someone else do it so I don't know when it is coming. It's a flinch, no debate. I posted my kid shooting that suppressor because when I did it the safety was on, and I flinched like a mofo, so I figured I would avoid the butt reaming I would get here The small target close in drill sounds promising. Going to do that for sure.1 point

One thing that can help with pushing rounds low and away is to put a spent case balanced on the front of the slide while dry firing. If it falls off you haven't been smooth enough. Another thing you can do is place a piece of tape on the wall and aim in on it while dry firing. At the range a nice drill that works is putting postage stamps or small stickers on something spread out by about 5-6 inches. Starting about 5 yards out try to shoot them. As you get proficient move the distance out. It'll improve sight alignment and smooth trigger pull. If your flinching you won't hit them.1 point

Damn there goes my goto. Maybe I can find some old stock at my local wally.1 point

And does it still claim compliance with JASO MA1 or MA2 standards? I wonder.1 point

Correct, don't bother him about it being rewritten, since it wasn't. ABATE is incorrect. But that said, I think they are going to help us on this. Their legislative coordinator is really cool and on our side.1 point

yeah, i'm taping it. using electrical tape and wrapping it as tight as i can. still bells out a bit after the cut. im gonna finish the job on my own al, it's a pain in the ass but it's my pain in the ass. with the exception of machining the cylinders and heads, i'm the only one to work on this bike in the 12 or so years i've had it.. aim to keep it that way.1 point

And another thing. How come deaf people can drive? I get they adjust to the hearing loss, and use their other senses more. Well guess what, so do we. Our heads are on a swivel and we are non stop looking, or we are dead.1 point

Nice job man!! I would be interested in showing up if he/you thinks it would be helpful. Here are some factoids to toss at him. While it is hard to be certain it appears that around 30 States already allow ear plugs. California started allowing them in 2004 and we can find no reports of issues because of this change. Noise levels at only 35 mph are in the range of 110 to 130 dB. Every doctor and hearing expert in the world will say over 85DB is bad news and will result in permanent hearing loss. This is NOT a loud bike issue, this is about the wind noise that is reaching these dB levels. Federal Law REQUIRES hearing protection over 85dB in the workplace, it is immoral for Ohio to require us by law to be exposed to levels far in excess of that. Some articles that contain testimonials from doctors and so on. http://www.ideastream.org/news/earplugs-helpful-but-illegal-for-ohio-motorcyclists http://legalmatch.typepad.com/businesslaw/2015/09/motorcyclists-object-to-state-laws-forbidding-use-of-earplugs.html1 point

Response from a Representative: Received your email and would like to meet with you to discuss this matter in greater detail. I realize that you are in class Mon-Fri and I am down here Mon evening through Thursday. Would it be possible to catch breakfast sometime on a Saturday morning? Probably the best I can do at this point given our schedules. I probably should add I personally know this Representative. He was my high school history teacher and basically ran his campaign from local friends and family support. Anything specific you feel I should bring up? Obviously the idea that the ear plugs are a safety concern. Other thoughts?1 point

All of the mainstream news outlets have had this document since at least like November or December. Nobody published it because nobody can verify it. BuzzFeed said fuck this, true or not we're publishing it. Mainstream media said oh ok we will too then.1 point

I've caught CNN (and other news agencies) making false or half false reports before, so I don't trust any of them. All of them push their particular agenda to some degree. Stay tuned...we'll see.1 point
