Update on my hubby Tim...the CT from yesterday showed L2 compression fracture with about 25% loss in height to the vertebral body, the MRI showed that to be about 30% but also that L1 maybe be involved, good thing is that there is no nerve involvement! So we are waiting for the trauma neuro team to come in, for him to be fitted for a TLSO brace, and for more xrays to check the stability of his back in the brace, also on PT & OT eval after all that, then we will know for sure if the game plan is to wait for healing to happen naturally (fingers crossed) or if he needs surgery. Of course he is finally resting comfortably now that it's time for everything to start happening.*Rebecca5 points

Well due to my lung issue and pain is not under control yet they are keeping me another night. Wife just left for home and the old man is going to pick me up tomorrow if I get released before she is off work.2 points
-
Yes from the impact, it did knock the wind out of him and he was struggling to catch a breath the whole way out of the woods... and don't worry he already informed me about using his valve stem to pump him up, and again I say no worries bubbies I got this!!!?*Rebecca2 points

Ok pervs new update. Hopefully they all get to agreeing on his treatment plan soon so he can go home today. There is a chance he may not get to till tomorrow, Xrays are all done just waiting for them to tell us what I already know since I talked to one of my radiologist that I work with daily.... Tim should be good without surgery but we also found out that the bottom lobes of both lungs are partially collapsed so he needs to take in some deep breaths to help fill them back up and to keep him from getting pneumonia.... But have no fear I will make sure he is safely exercised and taking deep breaths so he gets back to his old self in no time *Rebecca2 points

U have a sick sense of humor tonic, and here I am thanking god that he did not go to hike here1 point

Little bit of good news, L1 is involved but only in an impact/swelling/brusing way no big damage so still just waiting on the brace and xrays to determine the final plan *Rebecca1 point

Damn tuff Bastid, u even posted a ride report on the plus side u look like ur getting through this. Yep that's a freaking tough fall could have been worse, glad it didn't turn out and u be making a fast recovery. Vertebral augmentation surgery is a bit questionable efficacy with camps on both yes and no people. Hopefully ur pain is not significant to even discuss the procedure and just rest and pain Med is good enough. ( try to avoid opioids as much as possible, it's a rabbit hole for many good folks) June palooza will be a tough risky goal to make, we can always rerun in fall and many more including me will gladly join you then big man. Stand tall like like you always do, we got your back.1 point

As someone who has recently worked through some significant injuries.... you got this, buddy.1 point

Thanks bubbys, it's a L2 compression fracture. (Thought they said L3 but Simone heard wrong) Not sure of the severity yet, just got bavk from thr MRI. They are hoping no surgery will be needed but we will see. Lots of pain, never felt pain like that before. Was hiking at Mohican with the family and me and my son wanted to wander to the bottom of the Little Lyonns falls while the girls watched from above. I was going ahead of my son to make sure he didn't get hurt. About half way down there was a spot where their was wet moss on the rock edge so I tested it with one foot. Seemed to be okay so I proceded, soon as I put all my weight down my foot went out from under me and down I go with nothing to grab onto. It was about 25 ft to the bottom the first 10 ft was about a 45 degree slide then it drops straight down for the last 15 or more feet. When I crashed I hit the bottom full speed in a semi seated position between a large rock and a log and my mower back took All the ompact. Surprisingly enouch nothing else was hurt but I knew my back was fucked. At that point I was at the bottom of a 50 to 60 ft ravine and needed to climb out using tree roots and stones. Took me 20 min to get back up to the path with the assistance of a couple good Samaritans. Then it was a half mile trail hike back to the car that took maybe a hour using baby steps. Once to the car we made the decision to drive to Columbus to come to Riverside Hospital because all the local hospitals suck. And I'm glad we did they have been awesome here. Taking every precaution and getting me comfortable with minimal waiting. They admitted me for observation and to fit me with snack brace tomorrow morning hopefully head home late tommorow. As far as riding season and the trip in June only time will tell Even if I can't make the Ozark trip or get on the bike I'm coming to Fontana even if it means driving the car. Thabks for all thr thoughts and prayers you all are the best folks, friends and family a bubby could ask for. Here are some picks for your viewing pleasure.1 point

Hope he gets better soon, fall must be pretty significant if caused comp fracture as a young adult. Unless he was on ridiculous low diet for a long time deprived of essential good stuff. get well soon Tim.1 point

Rode it at Hampton hills. No pictures phone was in the car. Did the green loop a couple times then decided to hit the blue trail. Went to the new section and by the time I got back to the rest stop I thought I was having a heart attack. 45 minutes 5 days on an elliptical or stationary ain't got shit on actually riding. Neither does 3 hours in the towpath.1 point

What bike are you trying to connect to? I've never heard of it working with a Suzuki, unless you've got another bike than what's listed in your profile? I've used it quite a bit for swapping maps, reading and clearing check engine codes, troubleshooting, disabling emissions crap I removed from the bike, etc. Other than that, I leave the tuning to the experts. J.D. Hord at Hord Power has done all the tuning on my race bike using TuneECU. He's out by Mid-Ohio. Super reasonable and would recommend him if you have a bike capable of being tuned with TuneECU.1 point

Turning 40 has its perks... added Wahoo Bolt computer and PowerTap P1 pedals. Love them both! I was using a Garmin 510 that I stole from the misses a while back cuz she wasnt using it. I think the Bolt is way better than the Garmin unit. If in the market for a cycling computer, I would highly suggest a Wahoo Bolt! Went to Mohican yesterday with the misses and did the short loop of 6 miles on the MTB using Bolt for tracking. Got home and chased rabbits through the metro park for over 50 miles to pair pedals, worked flawlessly and all was super easy to set up! https://www.strava.com/activities/9453813571 point
