  1. Just finished my visit. Short version. F'ing miracle. Long version... he is totally there, remembers our ride the day before. Remembers specifics of the fz6 and who he knows had one. Details about me, my son...everyone. Maybe a tiny bit slow remembering really complicated words.... like medical terms. But that is a maybe. He always had a bit of that style in the way he talked, he would pause to make sure he was using the exact word he wanted. He is moving any second now to Metro for rehab. Both physical and cognitive. 8 days without moving creates a fair amount of physical issues that you just need to exercise through. Any cognitive rehab will be based on an evaluation.

  3. Replaced my stock Front Fork with a set of progressively wound springs that will handle my heavy old fat encrusted body frame. Also went with 10W fluid.

  4. I agree, I like going quick and taking corners fast but never in competition anymore. Back when I was young dumb and in the Marine Corps we would run rediculous speeds and one time even after telling the person behind me that I would wait at the end of the road for him I looked in the mirror after taking a corner to see him off the side of the road. Luckily he saved it and got back on the road but I prefer never having to call medics and life flight flying in for one of my riding buddies just because we had to see who was king of the twisties that day. Of course it sounds like you all ride together a lot and are dam good riders. I just prefer riding my own ride and If that ride has me taking 25mph corners at 70 then so be it. But if my buddies are taking them faster they can wait for me or I'll finish the day by myself.

  9. Just got off the phone with John. We talked for about 15 minutes. He talks fairly normally, you can tell he struggles a bit in remembering certain things. He is rehabbing and learning to walk again. He said yesterday he walked 2 times and was exhausted and that was the worst part. Definitely a miracle. So happy to hear his voice and talk. He doesn't remember anything from this entire ordeal which is probably for the best but he does remember before and after, so memory doesn't seem to affected all that much. He struggles very occasionally in his speech but I'm sure that will fade as time goes on. John, you truly are a fighter. We all knew you could do it. I also asked when he expected to be back on a motorcycle and he is shooting for a month hahahaha. Now that's a true biker for life.

  10. My end receipt was bad, no timestamp. But the hotel receipt was time stamped on check in so that saved me. Yea, I hear on the 1k they will bend a bit. After that they are more strict.

  11. It's a well established fact that Marines are assholes so there's that fact to help explain poor decision making.

  16. Doing 1000 miles in Ohio and documenting the route with no short cuts will be one heck of an accomplishment. Why not ride to Deal's Gap and back? There would be no corners to cut, so documentation would be easier. You would also treat yourself to a nice ride right in the middle of the 1000 mile day. Just a thought.

  19. Cr*p, I think I remember the first space shuttle launch. More importantly the landing. Does the release of the original Star Wars movie count?

  21. just a short video of me and @what running the skyway. I really need to get a new pc and sort out my editing set up. Cant get the freaking thing to make longer videos and the render setting no matter what ever i do sucks in older programs, need uptodate pc and programs for much cleaner videos.

  22. Made it home, it was dry for the good roads. So it was worth it to get through the rain. It was great to see some familiar faces and some new. Only 315 miles for me, I'm sure the guys up north rode alot more.

  25. It was good to see everyone today. Hope you all stayed dry. I did hit a little rain on the way home & I was right about the worn out tires being baaaad for the rain. Fortunately it was only about 10 minutes worth of thrills.

  27. I see the truth in this, especially since riding the WR250R. These bikes can also take you on roads where other vehicles are scarce (including cops). However, its also beneficial to be able to pull away from most 4-wheeled behemoths when they are a threat. The throttle of a hi-powered bike can get you into trouble, but can also get you out of trouble just as quickly.
