Yesterday, Mrs. Wahoo and I rode ours to the top of Pikes Peak. Reached the summit around 8:45 a.m. Damn it was cold. 36 with a wind chill of 26. Currrently on the road heading home after playing around in Colorado since 7/18. In addition to Pikes Peak and Trail Ridge Road, I think we hit 9 or 10 other mountain passes over 10,000 feet between RMNP, Breckenridge, Montrose, Durango and Colorado Spings. 550 (Million Dollar Highway) between Ouray and Silverton was a hoot.2 points

You can get from the Muskie Bucket to the Ohio River real quck if you go fast enough on 78. East of 77 most the sweepers can be taken at a very high rate of speed if you are so inclined.2 points

Garmin software is absolute garbage. Sometimes I use basecamp to view existing routes, but I'd never waste time creating a route with it. The method I mentioned above is better and much simpler.2 points

Road riding is a good way to build fitness, especially during the shoulder seasons when the trails are often closed. It also nice to be able to ride from your garage to put in miles instead of hauling the bike to a trail. I think its likely you would put more miles, though maybe less time on a CX bike than you would the fatbike. Plus riding trails like Royalview and Bedford on a CX bike is good skills training. Last time at Bedford there was a CX training group on the MTB trails putting down a pretty good pace.2 points

@durk and I fail at getting together. Writing it down may make it happen. No plans yet other than the day. Medium fast ish. SEO likely. I'll let him post up his thoughts. Weeee motorcycles! Also, @what, hope you're around and are ready to thrash.1 point

Sunday morning, myself and two other guys made the trip east from Toledo to attend FZ6Sonik's Shakedown Ride. I think because of the rain, the birds were feasting on their selection of worms because they were stupid. I probably killed 4 birds on the trip over, but this one was the most epic. Includes a slow-mo and zoom towards the end. I will be including this in a full youtube video for the entire days adventures but figured I'd show you guys first. Thanks to @Whelan for letting me snag the footage.1 point

Where are you on this party thing? Katie and I bought a new house recently. 2 acres, two garages, big driveway, fire pit, chill neighbors. 10 minutes from convention center. If you were planning on trashing some other venue, all good, just throwing our place out there.1 point

Yeah... I might have been enjoying my Friday evening in a particularly chill manner when I posted that. Also, fuck you, you fucking grammar fuck.1 point

That was my nicer response for reasons not to buy a BMW. I deleted the first one before hitting reply. Congrats on the gift card!1 point

I still use an old version of MicroSoft Streets and Trips from like 2011 Plan the route, export the .gpx file to my computer and copy it to my Garmin 590. Not perfect but works for me1 point

Caution, 555 south of Chesterhill, has fresh gravel spilled in a few corners, I know what else is new.1 point

So that's probably 30 minutes give or take to get to the intersection of 78/83. I'll get there a little before 1 to be safe.1 point

Google on the phone sucks for that, you can't do it. You have to put together a system of software from other people to make it work. The only way I know how to do it requires a Windows PC and an Android phone. I know my method won't work on an Iphone and I don't know of any methods for that. There might be, just dunno. Plan the route on Google Maps. Put in lots of waypoints to force the route to be on the roads you want. The more the better because we are going to translate that twice. Download ITN Converter from the link below and put that on your PC. Copy the full URL from the Google map you made above and paste it into ITN. Then there is an export button that will convert that to a file for your phones Navigation program. It supports most programs. It is free. http://www.benichou-software.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4&itemid=3&lang=en Get a good Nav program for your phone. I use Sygic. It is cool, you can download maps for the whole US...state by state so you just get the states you need. Then you copy the file from ITN to your phone and open it with Sygic. Sometimes it takes a try or two to get all the routes/waypoint right. Sygic is like 25 bucks for all of North America. There is a free version you can try for a week or two. https://www.sygic.com/gps-navigation1 point

Here is my video from this day in case anyone wanted to check it out. No... @Tonik I did not include the part of you dusting me on 536. I couldn't take the horror to include in the video.1 point

I mean "justify" as in "will I actually use it often enough to feel like it wasn't wasted money?" I'm currently at about 400 miles of riding for this year, and I average 30 miles/week if I'm lucky. Even if I get that up to 50 miles/week, I'm not sure another $500-$600 on a CX bike makes sense when I start putting it in terms of miles/$$. I don't have any races on the calendar for a while. CX is the most organized racing series that's local to me, but that's the primary draw. I prefer to ride XC. it would be nice to have a CX bike for road use as well, but I'm not jonesing for long road rides - I only do that when the trails are too wet1 point

I think they often have fatbike groups at the CX races. I know some of them did last year. So you wont be racing against others on CX bikes. Yes, you will be faster on CX bike, 29er, or a road bike than a fatbike. It depends on if that is important to you to have a different bike for whatever setting you are riding in to go faster. All bikes will do 5, 10, 20 or 100 miles just depends on terrain and how fast you want to get there as to what bike is "best" for the job. I ride all types of terrain with all sorts of people and enjoy doing it all as quick as possible. So having a bike that fits the riding I am doing is important to me. I think the CX bike could replace my road ride if I wasn't into doing crit races and chasing cars on the road! <---Stands up - Hi my name's Jesse and I'm addicted to bikes!1 point

I would like a good blizzard this winter. Nothing that kills people, but I wouldn't mind society shutting down for a couple of days, and watching everyone freak out about running out of food, etc. Hell, I'm even okay with losing power for some amount of time. Generator and cellular data will get me by just fine. Our gas fire place PUMPS heat, and running the circulation fan would use 2 watts of generator juice!1 point

Went out for our normal Tuesday evening ride and ended up adding a random rider on while going through the metro park. Guy was a good rider, had a nice bike and was plenty fast! While out front on a downhill section i hear a super loud PSSSHT! Noticing it wasn't me who flatted I look back to see if it was my friend or the added on rider. Just as I looked back, the added on rider went down hard! We were doing about 30 on the road and he hit some glass that I hadn't seen or gone through. Went sliding thru the next lane and is super lucky there wasn't an oncoming car. His helmet picked up some road rash and saved his brain for sure! Kit was a bit messed up and there was some scraps along his side. A nice person with a truck was able to take him and his bike back home. We have gone down that road 100's of times, without any issues. Since most here on this site already ride motorcycles and are pretty much pro helemt and gear I'm sure it need not be said, but even on your bike please gear up properly and be safe out there!1 point

Might join this one. Saturday's a good day for me, and it's been a while since I've ridden with Jacob. I'll look to meet in Otsego. Tip: 83 sucks through the Muskie bucket area. Chip seal has ruined it for a few years, it seems.1 point

I also made a video of Durk's back side last may with Jim. That was fine, no worries here inmates.1 point

Ok I got a few clips but guess they are too big for here directly 50mb. I'll get youtube setup and attach a few from this weekends ride. They are pretty boring as I was riding with a buddy on a Gold Wing so not as thrilling as @NinjaDoc videos.1 point

I don't know what all this "timer" "stopwatch" business is. If you guys are racing....then RACE. 8 riders at the start line with a flag man. Checkered flag at the finish. First man alive across the finish line wins. Only sport bikes allowed. No less than 1000 CCs because this isn't that chump change 600 CC middleweight nonsense. I don't know why you all are even mentioning SENAs. No weak ass helmets allowed. And the same goes for gear. T-shirt and flip flops/ tennis shoes or go home. Last one across the finish line is sacrificed to the motorsport Gods. You guys really need someone to organize this thing.1 point

First decent ride clipless. Strange as fuck how fast I was going up hills and on straights. Freaked me out going up the big hill out of the bowl and ended up walking because I got the shakes after a near crash. So I ended up staying on the other trail for nearly 2 hours trying to build some confidence not being able to just lift my feet off. But overall I like it. Just need a minor tweak to cant my heels out just a touch. Damn. My legs are sore. My core is weak AF1 point

Looks like a good start to a game of bike-tag, as they tend to do over at the ADV site. Anyhow...here is a place with an interesting name...near Beverly, Ohio. Along the Muskingum river.1 point
