  1. Wait, are you making rules and taking away our freedom?

  2. Most of us have partaked "Silly Riding" in some sort. Idiots are gonna be idiots, and the best prevention IMO is to be welcoming and not alienating to inexperienced riders. You see a new rider, help them out and try to steer them towards safe riding techniques. Squids are inevitable though. I just avoid their top locations, highway/city/parks. Theres plenty of motorcycle practices I don't agree with but that's the rider's choice. Some choose to not wear a helmet and speed excess of 100mph, others choose to pass on double yellow. It's not a perfect system, but you gotta work with what you got.

  3. I personally don't give a fuck about how people ride...unless they're riding with me. If I don't like riding with someone, I just won't. This policy has worked out fabulously for me over many years and many thousands of miles.

  4. for local I would try Fisherman's Warehouse first, they are more of a Mom and Pop shop that would help you over the larger box stores.

  7. So reading through this thread, I must be the most hated MOFO on this site. 1) I'm a millennial 2) I rip 100+ down the highway at times 3) I go bonkers in the twisties on SEO 4) I double yellow pass 5) I post my ride routes online for police 6) I do the occasional wheelie 7) I'm a motovlogger ( @Casper ) 8) I've taken my DSLR and drone to cars and coffee for them instagram posts 9) I've been to the drag strip where I like to go fast straight 10) I've also been to the road track where I go decently fast in corners. Either way, I'm just like fuck you all because when I ride, I ride to do whatever makes me happy at that moment. If I'm feeling frisky, I get frisky. I don't worry about what others think of me (see myself holding a dildo in my avatar), regardless of how pissy they get when I go around them.

  8. Two days before the trip and the only route I have looked at is how I am going to get to the first hotel. I intend to keep it that way. I will also probably peel off at some point and get lost, then text you to get me unlost. Then bitch at you at the hotel that night for getting me lost.

  9. This is how I make my choices. Not a perfect system but it works IMO. I try to avoid excessive speeding around small towns and houses. Mainly because there's kids outside playing and secondly, nothing pisses people off more than being dangerous around their children, which makes them more likely to complain to the police.

  12. Cops are too lazy to do this sort of thing. Unless the event is huge and widely known, it aint happenin. They just know the best places to hide to entrap motorists for revenue generation.

  13. Q I understand your frustration here, but my first thought is whatever floats their boat so be it. If it brings more attention to 77 surveillance and similar slabs that's okay with me. Hopefully the law will focus in on the slab and leave the twisty state routes alone so I can continue to enjoy the corners you speak of. When I'm on the slab I typically don't break the 10 over mark so not much concern for me being that unsuspecting fool. Secondly I'm sure there are plenty out there that think what I/we do in SEO is bonkers, so I try not to judge others actions much.

  14. Short of new legislation, bigger fines, etc., repeated actions will be met with increased surveillance. And the next unsuspecting fool to get busted may be one of us. The other question is Why? Anyone with a sportbike can pull the trigger and hit 130 on a straight freeway. Take that bike to a twisty road and enjoy some corners. More fun to go faster in the turns than in straight sections.

  15. Yes, they are. People's actions that others find threatening and dangerous are often cause for new or more punitive legislation. More laws=less freedom. And no better place to showcase your brash and selfish behaviour than a busy 6 lane interstate.

  17. Pointing at random shit like @Tonik ? I like that game. As far as insurance goes, I have no idea how rates are affected by tickets/accidents/etc. I've been very fortunate in that regard.

  18. pointless to rehash the track/street all over again. that horse is so beat to death, even skeletor wouldn't fuck it. riding is riding. unless you ride some piece of shit cruiser or something... that's just traveling to your inevitable death on two wheels as slowly as possible. and if you ride a tarted up ducati... enjoy your gourmet coffee with those tight pants while riding you smug slow greasy pile of garbage. and don't get me started on dual sports... god, just pick road or dirt already, we know your mommy issues are the true reasons for your inability to commit. ah yes, riding sure is riding as long as you're riding what i like to be riding, on the bikes i like to be riding on, riding the kind of ride i like to be riding on with my riding buddies and riding group and my riding forum.

  19. You're overthinking it. Sounds like you are feeling guilty when you DON'T ride. If you wake up on a beautiful Sat morning and don't feel like making it to the meet point and making up reasons not to go, then don't go. If the morning of you commute you are indecisive on bike or car, take the car. However, if you feel like I've got to get to bed early and need to get up to make the ride, then go. If those days you decide not to go end up stringing up to a few weeks, months, years, then so be it. I've gone through times where I hardly ride and use that one cloud in the sky as an excuse not to take the girl out. I've take a season off. My passion came back the following year. probably stronger. But my mentality changed. It wasn't just to rack up miles and speed, but it was to meet friends, wander mindlessly to detox my brain, go down half a mile to get some milk, slab it 3 hours to visit a friend for 30 minutes. purpose changed, reasons changed, but passion was same...yet different. Ride your own ride.

  20. I got away from riding for about 15 years. My wife lost her cousin to a motorcycle accident and she was very uncomfortable with the idea of me riding. So I hung up my helmet and between kids, work, and life I kept very busy. Picked up a few hobbies to pass time I'm pretty sure I have the OR to thank for getting back into it. As a lot of you know I live right next to one of your favorite meet up spots. A couple years ago the wife and I stopped for fuel on our way home and there had to be 40-50 sporty bikes at the gas station (epic ride maybe?) She could tell it was killing me and after surviving 3 heart attacks in the previous couple of years I guess she figured I should do whatever the fuck I wanted. I was ordered to get another bike and here I am. One thing I can tell you for certain is you will never replace the feeling of locking your eyes on the road and having complete focus on nothing but the asphalt, the tree line ahead and the sweet howl of an inline child of mama kaw. Doc it seems to me bikes might be in your blood so don't go off the deep end. Sometimes you just don't wanna ride.

  22. I had a couple of you ask about my fuel pump swap on Saturday. Thought I'd give an update. Bike is running like a champ now. I did not realize how much it was running like a dog prior to the swap. It feels as though I gained 50hp back.
