Horrible news. Was a hell of a guy and my first OR ride was with Jerry, Ryan and Doc. I think I spent every weekend of that summer with those three... really sad to think half are gone. I wish i would have stayed in closer contact with him but at least got to see him at Ryans funeral last year. Rip brother... we will ride again Doc I know you guys were super close. Give me a call if you want to talk.3 points

Rest In Peace, Sailor Jerry. Godspeed and thank you for your service. You were a man we should all strive to emulate. My Yuasa popped one evening on a looooooong ride home, and we were basically between I-77 and OH-800, on OH-22. I called home for help and a tow, but got an ear full of nope. Jerry refused to leave my side, even stayed until the wrecker arrived and loaded me up. I was already discouraged about some home issues and he even counseled me a bit and then called to check in on me a few days later. I'm grateful to have met him and honored to have known him. He had that old-school charm and charisma. The world is a lesser place without him, but I'm a better man because of his kindness.3 points

Saw "him" and family at ER. They are really sad but not shattered I guess since they were mentally prepping for this for some time. He was just skin and bones didn't want to remember him that way. Just want to remember him as the old guy with big guy strength who worked hard and did heavy work till the day of retirement. Physically invincible and mentally fragile because he was too nice and kind. In a way we can be at peace I guess since he won't suffer any more. I was silently pushing him and family to stop chemo long ago coz to me it seemed it was killing him faster and affecting his quality of life. But there was no right or wrong answers in this scenario. I was hoping to trailer his vstrom to gap this year. Had the off days all squared away. Plan was one small trip trailer to WV 16 and if it goes well trailer to gap come June. Thought he would get at least one good summer ahead of him. Motorcycling won't be same any more riding without him and sort of watching over. May be he will continue to watch over2 points

The only time I got a ticket down there was when there was the landslide and it was a dead end road for the summer. Strange how it happens to work out that way.1 point

1 hr ride on packed snow trail straddling dusk on the Anthem Advanced ex demo bike i just picked up. Had the option of cutting the loop short across the frozen lake. Walked an 8 foot long A frame bridge and slipped and fell on the way down buggering my shin twice against my bike through 2 pairs of pants. Abs were already fried from snowboarding thursday and volleyball saturday. Work indoor soccer league starts in a week..1 point

@flashesbuck come on down not all of us are stoners that think you are not a good rider (is that enough smileys to know I'm half kidding around?) Here is the story, first and foremost make sure your equipment is in tip top order especially tires and brakes and ppe but really all your ducks need to be in row. Second and equally important "ALWAYS, RIDE YOUR RIDE". That includes all miles for this trip including the ones getting there. Plan your trip with what ever you want to do ..BUT. Always have a way to opt out or and alt. plan. If your tired, STOP. If your over your head on a technical road, slow down. Shit happens and time tables get fucked and the last thing you need is to feel your on a set deadline to get some where. Same goes for the roads down around the gap they are a different beast than stuff up here but ANYONE can ride them just not at the paces some of us do. If you have to do half the speed limit to be safe, do it. Just keep they guy that just rode up behind you in mind at the next turn out or strait. If you give yourself plenty of time and don't have the mind set that you are going to "slay the dragon" you will be fine. And if someone invites you along on their journey, rules need to be laid out and they should be informed of what you are comfortable with. My wife may be taking her bike and she has ridden less than 800 miles in the last 2 years and 600 of that was one trip. I have no fears of her going down there and getting in over her head because I know she's a smart rider that could care less what pace she's riding at or what time the clock says. I'll take a smart rider over experience any day. Obviously a smart experienced rider is the perfect scenario. but even a stupid experienced rider is dangerous.1 point

If it comes in under 10K i bet it sells well, nothing else like it. If they drop a DCT in it, even more losers will buy it.1 point

Went snowboarding last night. Hardly any falls but deep soreness this morning. Their "lifts" and a board hanging off one foot add joints to the muscle1 point

My first Dura Ace Crankset since the octalink II days. 7800. Very light. Not as much fun to hold in the cold as carbon. Cheaper than 7900 but 20% less stiff. I tell myself they're more aero.1 point

With a very heavy heart I have to post this here. Jerry's daughter just gave me a call, the worst call I was hoping not to get anytime soon. Jerry passed away earlier today. He was not doing too well recently I was worried this might happen sooner or later. But in between he would have good days and in fact couple of weeks ago we were hoping to make it to the neo meet tomorrow. But he was getting too weak and suffering too much too. Everything happened fast, He collapsed earlier at home and ems took to hospital but it was too late already as per his daughter who is an RN as well. Will keep you all posted as to further services etc0 points
