  1. i, too, enjoy going into threads where i have no 1st hand knowledge of the subject being discussed and talk shit about it, and then accuse other people of being defensive when they call me out for more or less acting a fool. i, too, am a man of culture.

  4. Naaaaaaah, no way guys. If I wanted to be full on track junkie I would have become one long ago when Ryan and jester both were deep into it and Ryan always telling me how much fun it is and pulling me to try it non stop. I like going fast in streets only in certain scenarios and only certain moods, most time when I am out by myself am just enjoying the travel. I believe one of my best asset as a rider is my ability to have a photo memory of maps. I never used gps for any street rides in the last 10 years, except once we reach a city area. And I love exploring the roads that way, just look up map and go out and enjoy, stop take tons of pics and videos. And most importantly meet new people. For example in the last few days I been out riding have met some other new riders who is just like us “ full gear full long day twisty riders” already have their contacts and stuff and most likely building up a network of like minded network like this. now regarding track, I am 100% certain I enjoyed this way more than last time was because of the people around. The one time I tried in nearly a decade ago, I was new new to every thing. New to OR, new to America, new to track. Only person I knew was @jbot he went above and beyond to help me get there and try track and feel included. But I was just too reserved shy and hiding social anxiety and track anxiety lol But this time literally everyone I knew for years, felt like coming back home, these guys were giving me tow around makes you feel privileged compared to other novice guys. 10/10 would recommended any street riders to give a track day one try just for experience. Pretty sure @Skinny guy will contact you next year Tim. at the track I was just enjoying them corners, in the straight I was not even opening up. Literally riding like street style with attack corner and cruise straight 😂 I like the acceleration part, shooting out of corner but don’t feel good about the velocity part like full on high speed. Don’t have a competitive urge or that kind of personality which I think you need a bit to get absorbed into track days. If not you can be pleasantly involved just running intermediate group and enjoy for ever. As for me, all I see in future is just trying novice days once in a while just to come explore the limit of bike and train myself a bit more to trust the bike in a controlled environment. 👍

  7. You were attempting to troll. If this were a mile munching or touring part of the forum we’d probably listen to you. But it’s not.

  8. is this your way of acknowledging that you bring no useful information or even a remotely educated point of view to this forum on this particular topic and should probably refrain from offering your opinion like it has any value or validity? k then

  12. 460 miles today. 140 short of my intended route, but I got a late start due to an electrical issue with the Voyager. Got the famous Yuasa POP... same thing that happened to me on the Multistrada a few years ago. I was dead in the water with 500 miles ahead of me. A quick phone call to Jim to make sure I didn't touch something I should not have resulted in another phone call home to see if Amanda was able to drive my spare battery to me. She was and did. It is half the size of the OEM, but it did the job. A new one is on the way, but she saved my bacon big time today. Back in business... I took 77S to Parkersburg, then was supposed to take 47..but I needed to make time, so I shot across 50 to WV-31, then 47 to 119, past Buckhannon. Then I grabbed 250 in Elkins and took it all the way to I-64. Wow.. 250 is a great way to get across WV. I had never taken it past 28, but it just gets better the further east you go. Stopped for a quick bite and fuel before I hit the freeway and was making great time considering how much I lost this morning. Cruise set at 80mph and Joe Satriani playing in my helmet... I was going to make it by 9:30 at this rate. Then Google informed me of a car crash on I-95S and I started checking the radar. Rain was just ahead of me, so it seemed like a fine time to call it a day. I made it to Richmond, VA... 2 hours north of Rocky Mount, NC. So, I will be up early tomorrow to get back on schedule. I have 150 miles between me and the customer's facility. Boo! Still... I had my own epic ride today. 10/10, would ride again.

  13. If anybody is looking for an AR Rural King has a Bushmaster AR-15 with no optics on sale for $380. That’s the best price that I have ever seen.

  24. i actually don't care about any of this, or even disagree with tim on the subject, i'm only doing this to remind everyone i should have been picked as mod. i mean, guys, look at how much more rep i have. it was an easy choice. i feel so cucked and will resent tim for the rest of my natural life because of it.

  26. My first post was a quick jab in the ribs. No different than someone coming up and saying "hey shit for brains, nice bike, looks slow". If it was said in a touring thread I'd chuckled gave it back a little and moved on. Guess maybe taken out of context a little bit, maybe? I have no disrepect for you track bubbys, never had. I sure it's a damn good time on two wheels. Hell I've even come to the track a few times to watch y'all go roundy round and enjoyed the hell out of it. Ive even told some folks " if your going to ride like that on the street, maybe the track is the place for you" Again not my thing, long term I think it would bore me(eventually), but still a cool thing. At the same time I never miss the opportunity to be sarcastic sadistic asshole either. But yea, always though what Doc wanted out of riding might have be better fulfilled at the track. And that what I was initially saying (sans my other added BS)

  27. Honestly i don't even know where this whole thing is coming from. All I said was . *Sounds like (i think) Doc is a good fit at the track. *road > track for me * others agree with me * everyone rides for different reasons Apparently that makes me a poopoo head

  28. And I will add to the above. If you could load the front trail braking and magically NOT increase the patch size you would have the same grip if you did load it and increased the patch size.
    1 point
  29. You sure? I'm not saying i know this for sure. But one would think a tire with a steeper curve vs one with less curve would have slightly less contact patch. With everything else being equal ofcourse. A over kill example would be a moto tire vs a car tire. they can be the same size but obviously the car tire will have more contact patch.

  31. N2 runs Pittrace, and I think(?) they are affiliated with the org that runs Nelson's now days. Other orgs around the area to look at are Sportbike Track Time, Midwest Track Days, Trackday Winner, Evolve GT and the Mid Ohio PTR program (this track is VERY good-weather-dependent). An R6 or any 600 should be fine as a starter track bike, an sv650 as Tim mentioned above would also be a great choice. Heck, even your FZ6 would work. Really you can bring just about any street bike to a novice track day and do fine. What bike you're on does impact your lap times, however a capable rider could take a clapped out beater and give people on brand new 1000's the business. Make sure the bike you bring to the track is in good working order but after that focus on improving yourself, that's where the real progress comes from at the track. 👍

  34. Um, it's Ossie for Oestericher. The Aussies are all down under. The Aussies wouldn't be picky about tire specs anyway, they'd find a way to make it work.

  35. I don't think anyone is saying track is superior to street riding, they are two totally different things. I will say that investing myself in track/racing over the last couple seasons has led to a pretty significant amount of growth in my ability as a rider overall (at least I feel like it has, other people can fill in for me whether or not it's true). Something I would not have been able to achieve if I were only riding street. Think of it as combining multiple similar disciplines to make your overall riding ability better and ultimately safer in any environment. That said, I have never ridden dirt, and dirt is also an amazing training/learning environment. That's on my to-do list at some point for sure.

  37. After my amazing experience yesterday I would say I would go back to track at least hand full of times a year. Just like doing a gap trip etc. it’s just an experience. Don’t have to be 100% involved in it. To me the best possible combination seems like thousands of street miles for the endorphins and few hundred track miles for the adrenaline load a year. Lots of good and bad in both sides. Lucky are the few who get to do either one and blessed are the few who get to be involved with both. 😇

  38. Never said i hated it, just said it's not my thing. I do find it hilarious that some get so defensive about it and can't take a little rib jab every now and then. All (my)road fiends I can think of that tried the track and came right back to the road. They learned the lesson for me that I think I already know. Road>Track (for us anyway) Some like you and other obviously feel different. I've never told any one that the road is the best and only way to ride for everyone. But I've heard many on here say track is best and only way to ride and if you don't try it your a poopoo head, over and over again.

  39. Haha 🤙🏽 That was a great. I was not even trying and never expected to start dragging by second session. Once you get hooked to that sensation of gentle vibration and scrap sound it’s pretty addicting. I can’t lie, pretty vain i know , but have to admit that was a really really good feeling of achievement lol but my aim for the day was to improve my left handlers, Problem is mainly hard left handlers. I don’t think much changed in that aspect with only few left handlers we got. Need to work on it streets itself I guess.

  40. I can totally see Doc being a track fago.......hom....person. He loves the thrill of going fast at the same time wants to do it in a controlled semi safer environment. Most road riders speed is secondary to just being out in the world and seeing things. Doc seem more like a speed/thrill first kind of guy.

  41. Yeah got her home without any problem just bummed that I couldn't continue with you guys. Didn't go to Iron pony yet, need to figure out what tire I want on there, also was thinking to get a tad wider tire, theoretically should do better in a curve?

  42. Didn't you also have a first this weekend? Glad I got to witness that, as well as your reaction (which is totally normal the first time) which made me laugh in my helmet all while screaming "yeaaaaahhhh Nivin!"

  43. This was an awesome day and a great experience. @TimTheAzn @Jester_ Can’t thank you guys enough for making a very memorable day out for me. Without you guys around it would have been stressful and Impossible to get done as riding in and riding back etc. . Esp Need to thank Tim who set the ball rolling and my mind cranking to get this done. It’s been almost 8-9 yrs since the last time I tried a track day. This was esp better since got to spend with friends who I haven’t seen for such a long time. Plus got to meet @F4iguy as well few remaining OR folks I need to meet face to face. I don’t think I will be out right track junkie, but this was really enjoyable to the point I will be coming back to do this at least 4-5 times a year.
