Freedom of speech applies to the government. I can't come here on Casper's board and say anything I want. His board, his rules. Same thing with A&E's TV channel, their channel their rules. Also consider this....if A&E was forced to let the Duck Dynasty guy say what ever he wants....doesn't that force A&E to change their message....doesn't that put restrictions on the message they want to send? If A&E wants to send the message that being gay is ok they should be allowed to ban Phil. Phil can run around all day long and say what he wants. A&E is free to fire him if they want. What bugs me here is the use of the term bigotry that's being thrown around by a lot of folks. By definition, bigotry is intolerance for someone of a different belief. AKA: you must DISAGREE and be INTOLERANT. From what I've read, this dude DISAGREES but has clearly said, ""I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me," he said. "We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity." Thus there is no INTOLERANCE, at least none that we are aware of at this point. A&E, however, has disagreed with his position and not tolerated it, thus they are, by definition, bigots. Per Webster's Dictionary: "bigot: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance" (emphasis mine) I usually don't like to get involved in sociopolitical issues, but I'm getting sick of a society that sings, "TOLERANCE!" from the mountaintops then screams for the heads of anyone who disagrees with them. I agree that everyone needs those things, but I do not agree that everyone on public assistance or even everyone making minimum wage makes those things their first priority. I encounter a LOT of lower income individuals in the course of my job. While Mom usually works as a cashier or a server at IHOP, the kid may be fined or assessed costs separately. Mom literally said "we missed the first court date because I couldn't afford gas to get here, and we missed the bus." I believe her. What I find infuriating is that the kid (when he finally did show up for a later hearing) told the Magistrate that he couldn't pay a fine, because he has two phones. "I had the GS3, but when the new iPhone came out, I wanted that, so I have 2 phone bills that are about $175/month total." There's a lot of that kind of shit. Kids whose parents claim they can't afford to feed them report that their neighbor stole their X-Box - because you can't afford food, but Call of Duty is a necessity. I'm not saying that everyone abuses the system, but those who do don't even realize it half the time. Their priorities are all out of whack. It's like the line from "white men can't jump" where Woody tells Wesley he's so busy trying to look like he's winning, that he doesn't even realize he's losing.

A&E's choice, sure they felt they needed to, but the real problem is why they felt they needed to. I don't think this has anything to do with free speech. He said something that wasn't inline with his employer, so they terminated him. The same thing would happen to me if I spoke ill-will, or discredit to my organization. We just had to sign off on a policy for it last week. This includes social media, like OR and Facebook. He stated his opinion based on his beliefs. No one can fault him for that. Unfortunalely A&E, aka his emplyer, found fault that his statements weren't in line with the company value. That is also their right. I don't believe he said anything derogatory in his statement. I don't believe A&E was out of line for terminating him either. It sucks, but it is what it is. What did A&E expect was going to happen with a redneck God loving southerner when they signed the contract?

Bug and Tar remover is what I use wipe it on let is set for 15 minutes wipe it off. I would use a industrial disinfectant similar to what would be used in a hospital for your good time fun hole. Perhaps Murse could pick you some up.

I have always upheld that if it can be proven he made the statement about wanting to go to another country it should be allowed. It would be a huge relief to us here. You buy the idiot a 1 way ticket to the country of their choice, put them on the no fly list so they can't come back and take away their citizenship. Problem solved.

You're right about lazy people. When I was young and stupid I got married at 19 and had a kid. I was making $5.50 and hour so what did I do? I got a second job literally digging ditches (landscaping, etc) to make ends meet until I could do better. There were days that I skipped meals so my wife and kid could eat. Now I make six figures because I worked my ass off and because my parents taught me the value of hard work and persistence. I'm tired of the whiners, most of whom bring doom and gloom on themselves because of poor decision making but do nothing to better themselves.
