Year ain't over yet, boss! From what i hear it's supposed to be edging sixties next weekend... braaaaap.
-
Should be nice-ish all this week. Low forties in CLE.

The 70mpg, I discovered, is actually UK gallons. So more like 61mpg US. Still solid. To be specific, promo video claims 3.84L/100km.I guess we'll wait and see on price.
-
They were saying over 70mpg on this too. That's reaaalllyy impressive economy, almost double what my FZ1 gets. IF MSRP comes in at $5100 like the reddit link I saw was claiming, that's a direct shot across the bow of the Ninja 250/300 and Yamaha R3 markets.

Whatever. Typical moron cager, talks big, doesn't do or say sh*t besides taking creeper shots at stoplights and then talks a big game with his butt-buddies later.

But the Italian strap-on is somehow so much more romantic...

Apex seals are a bastard if they're not cared for properly. If I understand the concept properly, you get carbon build-up on the seals which line the edges of the rotor lobes. Generally speaking that's all burnt-off if you rev the engine out regularly, like one would with a sport bike. However, trying to drive economically tends to let this accumulate which speeds up the apex seal degradation. The engines also heat-soak easily because there's no exhaust 'stroke' to let the cylinder cool off.

To add to the 'down at low speeds' -- This bike was mine, and both drops were at 0mph -- one was my brother accidentally dropping it while walking the bike out of the way of his car, and one was a stiff cross-breeze nudging it in just the right way to roll it forward and off the kickstand on the side of the freeway, while attempting to get a tow for the aforementioned throttle position sensor issue. Bike, to my knowledge, has never been to Coshocton.

I have a pair of Cortech Latigo Air boots. Pretty comfy; easy to get on once they broke in. Only two issues I'm having with them -- first, the heel cup has a cut a small (1/2") gash into the leather above my achilles. Not sure if it'd make a difference in a crash or not. Second, the sole separated from the upper about two weeks ago -- mostly a cosmetic issue as the main protective structure of the boot looked undamaged, so I just slathered it with 'Shoe Goo', stuck it under a table leg for two days and it's held fine since

I think if you're to the point of oversuing your coverage that you can subpoena bank statements. I'm not a lawyer, but I can check with my brother if that's a thing.

Paving stone on 2 Westbound coming into Cleveland here. Missed it by a hair's breadth and trust me, it wasn't because i dodged in time. Scariest thing ever.

Once your headshape is established, here's a weblinked list of helmets by size so that you can start shopping once you establish your particulars and price-range. GL -- post pics and a review when you make your decision! http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmet-shapes.htm

I had the same problem with my Scorpion. Nasty headache after half an hour. See if you can get a friend to inspect the shape of your head from above, and then compare it to sizing charts online, as well as measuring the circumference of your head where it's widest with a fabric tape measure.

... why? She made a stupid mistake in traffic, lol. No need to stalk her personally for it.

Guess this ended up being more of a product review... someone want to move this to that category?

Got it back about two weeks ago. Cliff's notes -- it's nice! The first thing I noticed about it was the quality of the graphics. It's a beautiful helmet, and the Thundercats motif on the side looks great in person. Doesn't get nearly as many sideways looks as my last one, which looked like Ed Hardy threw up all over it. The rampant lions on the backside are especially nice. Little aluminum accents over the exhaust vents, metal mesh in the brow intake vents too. Really communicates an up-market look. It's a race-spec helmet (DOT and EU approved), so a lot of it is over-engineered. The latches you see on the visor, for example, are unique. To remove them, you flip a latch at the back of that polygonal aluminum 'key', rotate down 90*, remove the key, rotate the L-shaped latch down and pop the visor off from around it. Either one of those latches looks like enough to hold the visor in place by itself... it does also have a locking tab on the left side of the visor in case these metal hinges weren't enough. Controls are easily accessible and easy to use with gloves (with the exception of the double-ring chinstrap; it's making me miss the ratchet-strap on my last one). Chin intake, brow intake, and the two crown vents up top. Control detents are positive. The visor cracks open in case you need more airflow, too. It's extremely tight around the neck and cheekbones when I go to put this helmet on; I BARELY fit my head in applying significant pressure to the neckroll (the helmet's, not mine, lol). Once it's in, my ears are tight against the speakers on the SMH10.That said, the fit is very comfortable once the helmet's actually on. Padding is good, and there's even a bit of soft-touch material on the chinbar where it looks to be solid plastic. Padding seems a bit spartan, especially around the crown of the head, but functional. The padding has disconnected the microphone linkage for the SMH10 a few times; going to have to relocate it or otherwise it's just an expensive set of headphones. It's also extremely light (being carbon fiber and kevlar), and cuts through the air very well. Very little turbulence, even at 'extra-legal' speeds. There is a bit of wind howl at high speeds, which stems from the gap caused in the neck lining by the chin strap. Will try to bodge something together behind the strap to see if it'll fill that gap; holding my glove in front of that area at speed makes this helmet dead quiet, easily more quiet than my old Scorpion EXO1000. I'm glad that this one shipped with a spare dark visor, in addition to the mandated clear visor. Replacements are $70! Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it so far, especially at the price. Snagged it off of motorcyclegear/newenough for just a hair under $150, which is easily the cheapest carbon fiber helmet I've ever seen. Looks great, feels good (once it's on) and I'm confident it's engineered to survive any kind of crash I could throw at it.

Haha, Eric Buell goes after the corner of the bar with a tig welder, muttering about being forced to use arcane technologies for modern ends.

It's the major limitation, that's for sure. I really do think you'll see more of those stations opening up. We've got EVs from 2-3 major manufacturers now (Tesla, Nissan and Mitsubishi all offer one, as well as the Chevy Volt which is a plug-in hybrid more than a true EV). The local Wal-Mart, which is squarely in Outer Hoodville, has 9-10 free EV ports out front... I don't know that this'll be a problem for much longer TBH.

The man can probably afford some beefy personal security.

Such an interesting bike. No mistaking those for anything else on the road.
-
I tell you what, though... the next car I get might be a Tesla model 3. Priced at $35k... never having to buy gas... or maintenance valvetrains... or transmissions... or change oil... or worry about gaskets, seals, etc. Just brakes and tires. Seriously, SERIOUSLY considering that for my next vehicle, after i run this Monte Carlo into the ground.

Depends on what you're eating, for sure. I usually have one with spicy food. Tends to counterbalance any residual heat very nicely.
