  1. I've done it once in traffic -- was riding an older Honda and it started to overheat on the 77N->480E traffic jam parking lot cluster-f exit. Rode down the shoulder stripe and had a few people honking. Eh. It was an emergency and I needed the airflow. I'll sometimes split to turn right on red, but only if there's 1-2 cars going straight. As other posters have said, Ohio drivers are nowhere close to reliable or attentive. I wouldn't put myself in position to do something unexpected, if they don't pay any heed when I'm riding in safe straight lines!
  2. Seconding the Latigos -- I have a pair that i bought for Christmas last year off Amazon (iirc) for about $150.00. I'm a little concerned about the zipper/velcro closure as opposed to straps, but they're comfy, relatively warm, and end up being largely waterproof even though they're perforated. Plus they're comfortable enough to walk around in... just get some high socks to keep the liner off your leg skin, as the interior can be irritating.
  3. Agreed, and I've traditionally rotated Suzukis on every other bike. I'm just sick of switching bikes every two years lol. I bought this FZ1 so I wouldn't HAVE to buy another bike, dammit.
  4. This is really all I want in life. With all the naked superstandards coming out, I suppose the CB1000R is supposed to fill that role, but I want that V4. That's Honda's bread and butter.
  5. He sounds like an asshole, and I don't like him.
  6. Just threw up in my mouth a bit. VROD is a great bike, but it's not UH REEL HARLEE, 'cause water cooling and engine balance and modernity, rabble rabble.
  7. That, and the fact that it doesn't weigh 700 lbs-- yeah I'd say this'll be in the running for one of the quickest cruisers on the market out of the box. It's got a 30 HP advantage over the Sportster, and just about as much torque, and it's relatively cheap. I kinda want one of these.
  8. Judging from the cracks on his helmet -- not miserable. He'd be dead.
  9. I have a prior generation version, so mine's not quite comparable, but -- I had a 2000 Katana 750. I sort of dislike that most of the power is very high in the band. For everyday riding I would have preferred a more gradual torque curve. On the other hand, I'm sort of glad that you have to for sanity reasons; don't want to be doing power wheelies everywhere I go. I've had mine up to 135 and it was smooth as butter. I don't know about "hanging" with other liter bikes but it's faster than you'll ever need it to be on the road. Pretty sharp handling, light-feeling.
  10. I would shit my pants if KD ended up here. Good lord.
  11. lol what's the story behind how much you hate this dude?
  12. I thought you were talking about how your bike's shadow looked like a scary ghost, come to reap that Duc's poor Italian soul.
  13. I'm more concerned with the recharging time-sink. That's the biggest problem I can think of when it comes to transportation concerns. I'd be fine with heavy batteries if it meant reliable usage life and a quicker charging cycle. Who knows -- maybe we figure out reliable on-the-fly charging integrated with the roads. I'm so ready for the future.
  14. It would explain the single front brake disc, too. Probably couldn't license the radial-mount or whatever it's called and just decided EH LOOKS GOOD ENOUGH LET'S ROLL
  15. Orange and black power strips.
  16. Haha, yeah, it's pretty pathetic. That thing could be a pretty sick little scoot with a 150-mile range. I suppose you could spring for the Screaming Eagle quickcharge adaptor and Screaming Eagle extension cord, and charge it up outside your local Quaker Steak and Lube.
  17. They make a high-mount exhaust for that? it's killing my OCD that the can is in front of that beautiful single-side swingarm.
  18. That said I think the thing looks gorgeous. If they can improve on the 50-mile range reports that I've been seeing, I'll probably continue to want one of these even though I won't be able to afford the doublessly-stratospheric MSRP.
  19. They gave it "90* bevel gears" which sounds like straight-cut gears to me. So, it'll still be noisier and more obnoxious than it needs to be.
  20. You some kind of goddamn communist or something?
  21. fawk man I wish you had this crisis three months ago.
