  1. I have a sixer of Two-Hearted in my fridge right now. Good stuff. Agreed with the proliferation of IPAs... they all end up tasting grassy to me after a while, and the taste sticks around too much. I typically only have those kinds of beers with meals. Give me a good Belgian strong ale or Tripel any day of the week.. la Fin du Monde, Gulden Draak 9000, Dragon's Milk...
  2. Scored what appears to be a pretty great deal on the Vemar Eclipse Lion 'Night Vision'. It's a tri-comp (carbon fiber, kevlar, fibreglas) shell and has maybe the most overkill locking shield mechanism I've ever seen... picked it up for less than $150.00. The white lion emblem and the Vemar branding on the side in the pic glow in the dark. Anyone here ever bought/used Vemar helmets?
  3. I'd mount that stuff mid-handlebar, honestly -- maybe fab some kind of bracket and have them strung out vertically.
  4. Love mine. Being legitimately picky here: it's noisy as hell, in a 'what's that noise, now?' kind of way. Rattles, knocks, etc. Scared me into begging two different forum members for advice. Also the wind protection kinda sucks; the fairing is too far forward. Not too much availability for parts as they've been manufacturing the new generation for like 10 years now. Tremendous amount of buffeting comes off of the stock mirrors for some folks; there's a fix you can find on the YamahaFZ1oa site that tells you how to basically screw them in backwards; brings the mirrors down and out laterally and fixes a lot of the issue (looks better, too). Engine is kinda gutless at low revs - powerband is definitely of two different minds about itself. you can roll around town in 6th gear but you'll definitely need to downshift if you need to pass someone. Cruising at 75-80 puts you near 4700 rpm; I averaged about 41 mpg highway on my last trip. That said, it's also all-day comfy, ergos are nice for me, gearbox is good, the carb throttle response is better than the injection of the '06+, it's got the bigger fuel tank of the two models, and once you get over 5k RPM the engine screams. Really easy to throw it around corners, clearance is very nice. Pillion seat is pretty solid. And, if you look around hard enough, there's still a back inventory of Givi racks and cases that fit it for your touring needs. I'll run this one into the ground -- really like it.
  5. Sorry broham, hard to get work-days off. Sounds like a good ride, and you had a nice day for it.
  6. That's the true test of a good big motorcycle, I think -- feeling much smaller than it is when the feet are off the ground. Sick bike, very nice... unfortunately out of my price range. I'd have to sell my Fizzer.
  7. My SMH-10 lasts several days of commuting. I assume this is similar.
  8. reddit.com is a website with a gigantic rider community. If you go on the reddit motorcycles sub-group you might get a lot more traffic for the gofundme. www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles Hope that helps.
  9. I was expecting a hurricane and got really confused when people started the Bandit 400 comparisons, haha. Bet that thing's a riot.
  10. Maintenance update -- bike ran like a top down to Dayton and back last weekend. Ate up 450-some miles without a hiccup.
  11. Competitive video gaming is a thing now. I doubt we'll see it in the olympics any time soon, lol, but there's actually money to be made on it. That said, the "owner" of a team typically has to do a lot in the way of securing sponsors, getting coaching staff hired, and interpersonal management, and your "athletes" are typically very young -- barely above high-school age when your reflexes are still at their peak... requires a certain level of tact that frankly this kid hasn't shown so far... so I'm interested in seeing which teams he owns, as there aren't too many teams that make legitimate amounts of money.
  12. Suzuki LC1500 it is, then. Or Rocket III. Can't think of many other bikes that are bigger than that Voyager... lol... Vulcan 2000, maybe??
  13. Guy had lights and sirens running and still ate it. God, people are stupid.
  14. But yes I hope you're all right as well, whoever you are.
  15. I say, Old Sport, I do hope you were wearing your Leathercap and your shooting gloves whilst riding upon that half-car conveyance you're always on about.
  16. "Too bad no one was around to witness it." FTFY.
  17. Haha, no, had to draft my mom into taxi service to get me down to Ravenna from Lyndhurst. Would have been... more awkward than necessary...
  18. Yeah tried to edit that in to the original post later, but that's apparently verboten after like 3 minutes. Subject line will have to do
  19. You guys... why do I do this to myself? I had Paul fix my FZ1, and I'm completely screwed. This thing is dialed in after his tune-up. The engine feels completely different. The brakes are sharp. It is an angry beast now - it feels better than when I bought it. I'm definitely going to lose my license on this thing. On the plus side, Paul also handled some minor parts issues with consummate professionalism. Can't recommend his services highly enough.
  20. Build a complex system of hydraulic platforms in your driveway allowing subterranean motorcycle parking. It is the only hway.
